The NX air conditioner uses a "clutchless" compressor that operates continuously whenever the engine is running, so no relay or fused control wire is required.

The load the compressor places on the engine is varied by modulating the amount of refrigerant admitted. This is accomplished with a solenoid valve (built into the compressor) that pulses on and off according to the cooling demand. The solenoid valve is driven by a solid state device within the Electronic Climate Control Module (called "A/C amplifier" by Toyota).
Thank you for the information. Very detailed and good to know. When i visited mechanics they did not have a clue and say I need to replacement the "clutch"
If the compressor pulley center nut is not turning when the engine is running, the compressor may have seized. The compressor pulley is manufactured with 2 concentric parts joined by an array of "break-away" spines. Refer to attached training info from Toyota.
