Question terrible smell, possibly leatherette

NX300 2020 is almost 8 months old now,. The interior still stinks, like some kind of chemical. Anyone else had this problem?
When purchased, the dealer said "you will notice a smell that will go away. It's from a salt they put on the car to protect during shipping."
I doubt it is a salt. Rather from leatherette seat. And not sure how to get rid of it.

This is a difficult question to answer. Ours never had a "terrible smell," but it certainly did have a mild odor. I am not sure what caused it but I have no reason to believe it is from the NuLuxe upholstery fabric. I don't notice it at this point. So to my point, a great deal depends on how each of us might define "terrible smell." Some people are bound to be more sensitive to these odors than others so while I will say I can still smell something in the car, it is very faint and it isn't offensive to ME. I know that doesn't really answer your question but hopefully provides some additional context.

Are you taking about the “new car” smell? If so, leaving the windows open while parked as much as possible will help. If it’s something else, you’ll need to locate the source of the odor and remove it. (If it’s something spilled or a dead critter for instance).

Thanks for the reply. Good to know the smell is not a characteric of the upholstery.
Must be related to a specific batch. At the time of purchase, the salesperson mentioned the "salt smell" more than once. So they were aware of that. And it is quite strong.
I will ask the dealer on next service visit. They must have found a way to remedy.
