There is no hardware difference. I added to my 2018 NX using a downloaded file I had found a link to. Saved $200 compared to what dealer was charging, which was a ripoff.
Might want to have a conversation with a service advisor at a Lexus dealer. They might do it next time you bring in for service.

Go to Google.
Type in Lexus Apple CarPlay upgrade Toyota Nation.
The thread is like 50-60 pages long and it goes into all the detail of where to get the files and how to do the upgrade.
Takes an hour. Super easy to do. Just follow the directions in the thread exactly and you won't have issues.
