Default Rear Differential Leaking

I have a 2016 NX200 Fsport. Anyone have this problem with their NX? Car got 53,000 miles.

looks like the oil is splattering all around and not really leaking out. there is oil stain all over the housing. Oil all over the frame of the car above the diff.

Are you sure that's the diff leaking and not just some spray that was used (rust proofing or something)? Usually drips down onto that finned part of the housing.

Otherwise the diff seals were known to go on some Toyota's ... so wouldn't surprise me much.

Are you the original owner? It may be covered under the Powertrain Warranty.

im 100% positive it’s not rust proof spray. I saw it the last time I lifted it up for an oil change and it was very little and ignored it. This oil change became more oily on the frame. You can see the dried up oil stain on the diff in the first pic.

and yes I’m the original owner. I guess I’ll call Lexus next week to make an appointment. I’m just hoping they don’t just spray it and clean it with brake cleaner and give it back to me.

Then it's likely a pinion seal that's gone...I doubt they'll cover it under powertrain but you might get lucky.

Are you the original owner? That's unusual.

Lexus covered it under power train warranty. The viscous coupler and seal was replaced on the rear diff.
