NX Ran dry of Gas won't start
Hi,
My 2016 NX 200t has run out of gas. I put in a cannister full in in my driveway. Won't start. Lots of clicking. and signal to visit dealer. I "reset" by disconnecting the negative terminal on battery for about 20 min. Still no response. Just had a full maintenance about a week ago so I think it is just the gas issue.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is the engine turning/cranking over? Lots of clicking might end up being battery/starter issues. This is just my assumption based on what you're telling us, I could be completely wrong.

Thank you for the info, the Christmas few days put a hold on things. The canister was less than you suggested so Im going to fill a large gas tank and try it. I really appreciate the diagram as well. Before things shut for Christmas, I ran out and got a new battery (the original from 2016 was in the NX so I figured it probably needed it) No luck but got a new problem which was "Key Not Detected". So now its not recognizing the key. I changed the key fob batteries and tried the trick of touching the key to the start switch. This cleared it with a beep but does back to "Key Not Detected" when I press the start. Interestingly, it says "Ignition On" but engine does not even try to start.
I got some advice from the Lexus dealer similar to above trouble shooting and the last option is a tow to the dealer in Halifax (2 hours away).I've made a call to roadside assistance and the tow can take it tomorrow if I don't solve it. Meanwhile, I'll try more gas in the tank and see what happens. Many Thanks!

Rather than your finger, use the back of the key fob to press the start button and see if the starter motor will crank the engine.
The new key fob battery could be installed upside-down or dead. They have a limited shelf life. Do you have a second key fob you can try? Will the key fob open the rear hatch?

Thanksfor the reply, I also replied to the other member who talked about the fuel level. As indicated, I changed the battery in the NX as well as the fobs. Probably needed it but didn't solve the problem - I detailed the latest in my other response.
Thanks
Thanks

More gas, Tank says 1/2 full. Funny doesn't say "Key Not Detected" anymore but simply doesn't start. Says ignition on, put in park. It is in park. Probably a dealer issue. Thanks for replies. I'll update.

1/2 tank is more than plenty.
Define "doesn't start":
(*1*) Starter motor runs (at least for a short time), but engine does not start and run. ("Crank; no start")
(*2*) Starter motor does not run ("No crank; no start")
If (*1*), the fuel line could be now full of compressed air. Try this:
(a) With foot not on the brake pedal, push the start button 2 times to turn on the fuel pump, build up fuel pressure, and hopefully displace some of the air..
(b) Wait 20-30 seconds.
(c) With foot not on the brake pedal, push the start button again to turn off the car.
Repeat the (a), (b), (c) sequence 2 more times.
Now attempt a normal start.
If (*2*), more likely an electrical or computer issue unrelated to fuel.

It's number 2. No crank or fuel pump sound. So the tow will pick up in the morning and take it to the dealer. Hope its not too serious. Aside from my amp problem that is chronicled on this forum, it's been without issue since new. I'll keep you posted. Appreciate the guidance on this.
