Default Electric parking brake release - rear brake service mode without a scan tool

Hello again,
I am a Lexus Master Technician and I am creating a series of maintenance tutorial videos covering the 2015-2021 Lexus NX models.
Here is my video showing how to fully release the electric parking brake on all NX models to be able to perform rear brake pad replacement.
All the videos you normally see advise to use a 12V or 9V battery and run power to the EPB electric motor, but you can actually do it without any of that with just a metal paper clip.
Please hit me up with suggestion on what other things you would like to see in the video comments.
Cheers!
Viktor

@ViktorG Do you know if this process is applicable to other Lexus/Toyota models? If so, which models/years?

Viktor. I love your videos !

Do you happen to have a video on how to flush/refill the cooling system on a 2000 NX ? Does it include the intercooler?

Thanks a lot for these movies.
Really helpful!
I like the one on replacing the door speaker - as I plan to DIY some soundproofing.
Thx!

Do you have a link to this video? It is showing that it is not available. Or can someone provide written instructions.

I have the missing Victor video. Use the forum Private Message system and just write "EPB service mode" or something similar so I know which video you want.
You will probably need the free VLC player to view this video. You can download / install it at www.videolan.org and versions are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux (I use all 3).

I will not post here because Toyota has threatened others will legal action for distribution of their proprietary information without written permission ( now you know the likely reason why the original has vanished ).

(fyi)
If one saw the Viktor's movie within past 6 months (aprox.) they can browse own YouTube history (be patient to scroll down enough) and the movies are visible there.
(looks like the movies are still on YT, but they are private nowadays and thus - not searchable)

There are many other YouTube videos for Toyota and Lexus vehicles that have almost the same process. The main difference was that the NX required the 4/12 paperclip connect on the ECM port.
After that it seems you pull 3 times, push 3 times the brake button within 8 seconds, and finally push and hold at least 5 seconds.

I see most of Viktor’s videos, if not all, are back. However, I recently replaced the rear pads a second time on sister’s 15 NX, and I never messed with the ODB port. Holding down the parking brake button disengages the parking brake. Then, to pull the caliper piston into the caliper, you first remove the piston drive housing (two allen screws, 4 or 5 mm), then use a torx bit (T-45) and turn clockwise to retract the mechanism inside, then use a clamp on the other side to push the piston inward. There is an o-ring on the housing. I’ve lubed it twice now with silicone to keep it supple and effective.
