Need help - rear brake job
#17
Yes, I watched the video a few times to make sure I followed the right sequence, took all of 30 seconds after inserting the paper clip ends into the right spots into the OBD connector.
Saves having to manually removing the e-brake motor and manually retracting the piston.
After doing the rear brake job on both sides, follow the few steps to take the brakes out of service mode, remove the paperclip.
Easy Peasy!

Hi Everyone,
So I thought I retracted my ebrake and piston properly. Put in the pads and the ebrake module. Now I have a Parking Brake Malfunction light on and the system is disabled. Any Ideas how to reset the system without taking it to the dealer? I should have put the system in maintenance mode but the first video I watched never mentioned it. ugh

Thanks

Parking Brake Failure
I will check the connections. However, I never disconnected them. Is there a way to manually reset or clear the error without the scanner? I have a feeling I ripped the code because I never put the system in maintenance mode.

Disconnect the battery for several minutes, it always cleared the codes.

Using the Victor YouTube video and placing the rear brakes into service mode to fully retract the piston is the only way to go.
A simple paperclip and watching the video will make quick work of replacing your pads and/or rotors on the rear with not much fuss.
Just remember to re-connect the piston electrical connection when completing the work or you’ll get a bunch of error messages, lol.

He means plugging back in the harness for the electronic motor on the e-brake/rear caliper. Viktor uses the techstream/OBD jump method to release the electronic e-brake by computer and thus, you do not need to remove the motor to get to the screw release for manual release.

Just realized now that perhaps it wasn’t necessary , I just assumed it would give more room to move the caliper assembly out of the way while working down there.

I disconnected the electrical connectors for the piston motor assembly after retracting using the paperclip OBD method of Victors.

So did Victor's method work OK for you and the piston retracted all the way?
