Default Rear brakes front brakes

Is it normal that i have 20% left on rear and 30% on front brakes? Shouldn't the front pads go before the rear ? Running about 50.000 km. On nx 300 2018.

Only thing I can think of is because the front pads have more surface area than the rear pads do.

I imagine it has to do with the electric parking brake and similar electronic controls. Our RX350L had to have the rear brake pad replaced before the front as well.

I think the engineers are starting to make the rear brakes with less materials so they closer match the wear of the front pads. On our ES350 I didn't touch the rear brakes till well past 150K; whereas, on my sister's NX, I had to do the rear brakes shortly after I did the front, around 60K.

The only thing I could think of is that although I LOVE the Adaptive Cruise Control (or whatever it might be called on the NX) I find that it tends to apply the brakes a tad more often than I would've (if the feature were disabled). Then again, I'm not sure if this would affect the rear AND the front ... probably !

In my car the fronts went before the rears, I know that the stability control likes to use the rear brakes a lot, do you do lots of cornering etc? Btw, I just went for the Power Stop K4713-36 Front Z36 Truck & Tow Brake Kit since I tow and its been really nice so far. Originals lasted 55k miles. had 3mm left on the pads.

Just changed all the brakes front and rear on my 2018 with 60,000 km and yes, the rears were down to 1-2 mm while the fronts were 2-3 mm left.

Opposite of every other vehicle I’ve owned, but then I never saw what the original pads had when new and I used aftermarket on the replacement pads and the pad material are the same depth. Guess I’ll find out next time at 120,000km.

Is it possible that when the Adaptive Cruise Control needs to lower the speed that when it applies the brakes it is only applying the rears?

My last several cars (Audi, Lexus, Acura) all had rear brakes worn out quicker compare to front brakes. None of these cars had adaptive braking or other fancy options.
