Water Pump Seepage Dealer Declined Work on CPO
Hello All,
I have a 2017 NX 200t F-Sport CPO. When I brought it in for oil change the tech had written on the service history that the water pump was seeping and that I declined the service for the water pump. A few months later, I brought it back to the dealer to have the water pump changed. Second tech stated that there was seepage but the water pump was not wet and stated no water pump was needed. Yet on the service history, again it shows I declined the service. Well, I didn't decline any service as my NX is CPO. A few weeks later, I take my GS 350 in for an oil change and happen to see the service manager. He gave me some song and dance about the tech stating no service was required and that Lexus corporate would not authorize a replacement water pump even though both techs indicated there was seepage. So, I'm trying to explain to him that my vehicle is CPO and why would they not preemptively replace the water pump so I won't have to pay after my warranty expires. Does anyone have any experience with this issue and a resolution?

Unless it is actively leaking with evidence of wet coolant residue, then unfortunately Lexus will not cover the replacement under warranty. See link: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...83269-9999.pdf
In my case, I had a large amount of dry coolant residue that collected on the side of the engine underneath the pump over an extended period of time, which eventually began to drip on the floor.
My NX was out of warranty, so I spent 3 hours doing the replacement of the pump myself.

Its BS if seepage is at the weep hole, I would demand a WP replacement. If seepage is along the side, then you may not have a case. I believe a gasket-in-place material was used and that leak spot is not making a full seal.
