How dependable is the NX? Do you see your NX going 10 years without issues?
NX is relatively new. Purchasing for my mom. She has a Camry now so the bar is some what high. She doesn't drive much, when she works from home maybe 2k/year, when she works outside maybe 5k/year, so she wouldn't put a lot of miles on it. Do you see it going 10 years with just routine maintenance (oil change, tires, etc)?
Can routine maintenance be done at a non-Lexus dealership?
She lives in a small town (50k population), there isn't a Lexus dealership for an hour and half out. There are Ford, Chevy, Honda, and Toyota dealerships in town and mom and pop shops. Could routine maintenance (oil changes and what not) be done nearby?
She does travel a few times a year and drives an hour and half to the airport (Lexus dealership is next to it) so if maintenance is once a year, she could have it done at Lexus, but looking into a 2019, and want it to go another 7 years (2029) without any headaches or issues. Some thing dependable, starts in the morning and works, and if there are issues, it be minor issues that can be taken care of in town.

I find it to be dependable and for sure will last me 10 years. My 2016 just clocked 55K miles and it's still going strong but I am on top of regular maintenance and preventative maintenance.
Most Toyota service centers will work on Lexus, very few I've heard that will deny a paying Lexus customer, the two brands also use the same diagnostic software from Toyota so it should be a no brainer. The only time you would be forced to go to Lexus is for recalls or extremely specialized repairs.

Wife's 2016 NX200t F-Sport has 65K miles. Oil changes, tires (1 new set), wipers, brakes & battery is all we have done. Never had any problems and not one single warranty item.
At 5K/year, your Mom should enjoy a trouble free ride for many years. Easily a 20-30 year car if she wants it to be, IMHO.
I asked my Wife if she wanted an RX next time and she said "No, I love the personal size of the NX."
SIL has an 2005? RX330 with over 200K miles. Regular maintenance, tires, battery, drivers side mirror & hatch struts is all she has done.
Neighbors have a RX330 & RX350 that have been flawless as well.
Lexus makes good vehicles.
