Trunk light voltage ( to install more powerful led light)
My idea was to add to the trunk light ( that are very weak) some additional 12 led strip, but I was surprised that only 6v arrive to the current led so the led strip dont work. Now I don't know If there is something bad in my car or by design there are only 6 v on those lights.
Anyone knows?
thanks !

Are you sure there is 6 volts? If so get a 5 volt LED strip and put a diode in the circuit you'll get 5.4 volts close enough.

What model year is your NX? I replaced my 2019 cargo lights with 12 Volt LED arrays with no issues, and the 2019 wiring diagrams clearly show them connected to a ~12V source. Perhaps the newest models (2022 - up) connect these lamps in series to save a wire.
Even with the much brighter LEDs, I was not completely satisfied with the illumination, because both grocery bags and luggage block most or all of the light. It was not a difficult mod to add a third LED in the liftgate, which is a far more effective location. I think RX models have a lamp mounted there from the factory. The wires required already exist behind the panel where the push buttons to close the gate are located.

Hi
Hi !! Thanks for your answers ) my nx is from 2018 , current light are a small Led bulb, I think is really really strange that there is only 6 volts there and now more than some of you confirmed that you have 12v, as curiosity maybe not related with the topic or maybe yes today I tried the cigarrete plug connector that is next to the light and no voltage there, I checked thr fuse that may be related (p.outlet 1 and p outlet 2) under the steering wheel but they look ok.

Does your cargo lamp assembly resemble the one in the attached image?
If yes, the black (or brown) housing contains not only the LED, but also a circuit that reduces the voltage and limits the current.
There should be 12V at the connector that mates to the rear of the housing.
Check if your meter is OK by measuring the voltage between the positive and negative battery terminals..
With regard to the power port, it is not always possible to determine if a fuse is good by visual inspection alone. Remove the fuse and check the resistance with an Ohmmeter. The power port and cargo LED are on completely different circuits, so do not affect each other.

I've changed mine to super bright iJDMToy LEDs and in addition to that, I took it one step further and overkilled it with some extra LED panels which replaces the hatch taillight access covers. I see every square inch now, dark corners no longer exist in my trunk. 😂
