Spare tire for 350
So I took apart the trunk space in my 350 to see about putting the spare tire in there. It was fairly easy to remove all of the storage bins.
For reference, here is a Canadian NX 250 video on Youtube that briefly shows the spare tire.
Looking at the spare wheel carrier parts diagram, it looks like you will need all 3 parts listed in the diagram.

My only concern is that currently I do not see a hole where you would screw in the blue screw cap you see in the video. Looking at the parts diagram, there is a separate metal mounting piece that looks screwed/welded into the trunk where you would insert the blue screw cap into. I do not see this in my 350. In picture 3, the cutout in the foam cushion material seems specifically for this part. It looks like the Canadian 250 doesn't even have that foam cushion piece now that I re-watch the video. Looking in picture 4, you can see the divots where you would screw in this extra metal piece for the blue screw cap to go into.
I'm thinking the cushion part will do enough to keep the spare tire generally in place, but there is certainly potential for the tire to move around in the back and cause noise when making turns or going over bumps.

Got the Modern Spare and put it in the trunk today. Removing the storage bins was pretty easy. The hardest part is removing the 5 clips that secure the seat backs to the top two bins, but just some wiggling back and forth with some force will get them out. They fly off, so try to do it slowly. The spare tire cushion (64777F6010) fits perfectly and keeps the tire in place. I will have to do a test drive later and see if there's any movement or rattling. This installation was so easy, which makes it even more upsetting that it wasn't included in the first place.
edit: drove around town and no noises or rattling of the spare tire.

So somewhere around $270 to buy the spare tire and mounting bins, then you still need the jack and tire iron.

That's a very good point that I have overlooked. Can't change a tire without a jack. Regarding run flats, it's my understanding if you get a "flat" and drive on it to get to service or home, the tire usually has to be replaced. So if this happens to not be withing driving distance to where they have a run flat in your size in stock, you've got a problem.

That's a very good point that I have overlooked. Can't change a tire without a jack. Regarding run flats, it's my understanding if you get a "flat" and drive on it to get to service or home, the tire usually has to be replaced. So if this happens to not be withing driving distance to where they have a run flat in your size in stock, you've got a problem.

I bought the full kit without the carrying case. They sent me the carrying case anyway. I think this is the best value as opposed to buying all of the OEM parts.
I would only get the spare tire cushion (64777F6010) and the Modern Spare full kit. The other two parts in the spare wheel carrier are unnecessary.

Won't work with the 350 because of the battery. As for the ML, is it the subwoofer that could be a potential problem? I'm curious to see how much room it takes up.
