Default Car brakes when backing out of my garage

I have 2022 Lexus NX350h and a standard 2 car garage that we put 2 cars in it. When I pull into the garage, the driver's side mirror is 4-6 inches from the garage door opening and then 24 inches from the wall when parked. When pulling out in the morning, the car will sometimes automatically brake (spilling my coffee everywhere and basically ruining the first hour of my day). I think it's braking because the front is so close to the garage opening based on the timing of the brake. Is there anything that I can do to permanently disable this auto-stop feature or adjust it's sensitivity permanently? Every time I switch these 'features' off, they are back on the next time that I drive the car. Thanks in advance.

I believe you are talking about the Parking Support Brake. It does have a temporary off in the Driving Assist screen. But it should also have a permanent (or default) off in the Settings screens.

Thank you. I think 5k software update reset it to on and since then I've been trying Driving Assist under the car icon menu to remove it again. I see Settings also has a Driving Assist menu that appears the same. I'll try that one.

Can’t help with the disable part, but mine does the same on occasion, but mine’s dependent on the time of day where the sun and roofline create a shadow in just the right spot. Just something else to consider as a possible culprit.

My wife's NX350 did that too but we determined that we were backing out too quickly from the garage; the sensor on the rear bumper for that corner was the issue (nothing wrong, just sensitive). When we back out slowly, it stopped occurring. Just another data point in case it helps.

Yes, my experience too, in my case backing into garage goes much better taking it easy. Those automatic braking events are quite disturbing. Both my NX and Crosstrek gave me a virtual enema backing in too fast. I prefer going slow and listening to the orchestra of warning tones vs having to change my underwear.

Update - We have the auto-braking permanently turned off. Annoyingly - there is a cone icon and message telling us it is off that we have to acknowledge to clear the screen every time we start the car. I assume this is for the lawyers but seems silly since there is also an orange ! on the bottom right of the console telling us the same thing. If anyone knows how to turn either of those off, it would be much appreciated. Thank you

Back into garage and see if it the error happens. This may be the solution if it the safety system does not activate by backing in.

I have the same problem as you. I too disabled mine like you did with the annoying message that you have to accept by holding down the button. When I was at the dealer in August for my 6 month checkup - I asked about it. I asked if they could adjust the sensitivity and they said there is no option for that. I then asked about disabling the notification and they said there is no option and Lexus won’t disable it for legal reasons as it is a safety thing. Apparently we are not the only ones that hate it as they had 2 other customers ask before I did. I was hoping the recent safety recall would make it less sensitive but every time I back in, I am abruptly reminded that it is still too sensitive .

So I can roll the dice every time I back in or learn to accept the warning that I disabled it.
