Question Blind Spot Monitor: No Sound?

With previous cars, I have been used to get a beep with the blind spot monitor when hitting the turn signal (and having a car detected in the blind spot of course 💁‍♂️). I find that very useful/effective.

Looks like my new NX does not have that beep (only flashing icon in the mirrors).

Or does it have it somewhere? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think that is possible in the new NX. You should at least glance over to the mirrors before changing lanes?

I don’t think it has that. Even our 2020 RX doesn’t do anything. Sometimes on busy highways I’m changing lanes and the light is on but the car letting me through it just flashes and never beeps

That's what
these these
are for.

Same as everyone else - we've had 4 different Lexus models and none of them have beeped when there's something triggering the BSM. I'd've turned it off if it did.

Yes, of course I do but I found the beep to be a good “early warning”.

Anyway, that’s a feature I feel we should have…
Thanks to all for the answers. 🙂

The only time it beeps is when the safety exit assist occurs. I know many people would have turned it off - since most people already say LSS+ 3.0 is beeping at you too much already.

Looking at the manual, the NX (at least the 450h+) doesn't have an audible warning. This is the same behavior as the RAV4 Prime, which I used to drive.

Personally I find the visual warning in the side mirror to be utterly useless. When I'm shifting lanes, I'm looking at the center of the mirror and looking through the windows. The corner of the side mirror is not where I'm focusing, and I think it's less safe to be focusing my gaze there. On my Honda Odyssey, the blind spot monitor beeps, and that's the correct design. Its false positive rate is once every few years, and it's been correct much more often.

I concur. The lack of a warning tone when the signal indicator is on (at least as an option) is an oversight. I miss the BSM in my Crosstrek on the couple times it triggered (caught a car pulling into the center lane from left while I was doing the same from the right). Only had one false warning with that system, sort of, on highway a car was coming up from behind quite fast but I still had plenty of room, but it gave me a warning anyway.

Perhaps Lexus ran out of different tones

It is puzzling why Lexus decided the car would beep if your seating posture is bad or tons of other useless things that beep, but omitted one beep that would be really useful......

My Volvo doesn't beep either (2021) and they're supposed to be the 'safety' leaders. I'd prefer a beep as in my wife's Kia.

For those that have a beep in another car - is it only of you signal a lane change or every single time the light activates?

Only when signaling lane change. Otherwise it just lights as a source of information (KIA)

I like how Acura does this with the warning flash located inside the door at the mirror level so it’s in your line of sight before you fully focus on the mirror. I don’t care about the lack of a beep (there’s enough beeps to deal with already), but in some conditions having the flash on the outside mirror won’t be as visible.

Same thing on Acura and Mercedes. That’s what I prefer. 💁‍♂️
