The 12V battery is COMPLETELY different from the High and Low Voltage of the hybrid battery.
I thought you opened this thread asking about the 12V battery. You can't jump the hybrid battery.
Sitting with the car idling does nothing to charge anything from what I've read or have been told.
To charge the 12V you need to run the gas engine. Idling does not run the gas engine therefor no charging.
Idling does nothing to charge the hybrid battery.

You purchased a hybrid and it should have came with an owners manual. I suggest reading it.

sorry about not reading the manual but I’m in the hospital (actually it’s a nursing rehab facility for a broken femur and a broken hip) and trying to do this in a simpler way it’s pretty stressful…
that’s it I’m done

i have my answer.

FYI, you can log into Lexus.com and log into your account and get your Owners Manual online. I believe it is available in the Lexus App as well. I only use the digital manual myself. I downloaded a copy to my laptop and can open and review it as necessary. It comes in pretty handy.

It’s in the Lexus App as well. Once on your Home Screen, click on your VIN. This is the screen. Select the Glovebox

Why were all the dashboard lights off like speedometer, was it still running?

It automatically shuts off if left idling for over an hour

If the 12v battery is low, you need to put that battery on a charger not a maintainer.

Running the car at idle will never charge that 12v battery.

The ICE needs to run ~ 30 minutes non stop to put any real amount of charge into a dead 12v battery and if it was truly that dead it probably won't recover and needs to be replaced.

On a hybrid, as soon as the vehicle is in ready mode the 12V system is energized and the 12V battery will be charged (if it can be), regardless of if the engine is idling, off, or at 4000rpm. The 12V system is powered (and charged) by the hybrid system directly, there is no 12V charging system (aka alternator) running off the engine so it really doesn't matter what the engine is doing for the 12V system. Obviously the engine will start and run to keep the hybrid battery charged, but in between cycling on and off doing this the 12V system is fully powered all the time (until the timeout period mentioned below elapses).

That being said, leaving the system on for a prolonged period of time to charge the 12V is certainly the hard way. Just using a 12V charger much easier and better.

WOW, I have never heard this before. Everything I thought I read and heard was the 12V battery was only charged by running the vehicle.

I guess you learn something new everyday.

Thanks for this info.

I stand corrected.

Don't own a hybrid just a regular 350 turbo so I'm not up on the hybrid charging system.

Seem to remember an article on the UX200H that suggested your statement that the motor generators charged both batteries.
