lexus door edge guards
What do the lexus OEM door edge guards look like?
Are they subtle or quite obvious?
Wondering if i should have the dealer leave them off (if possible).
Thanks.

Ours came with those too as part of a package and I like them as well. Very discrete looking. I also added some along the painted scuff guards as I was noticing that my shoes were catching on that side.

Thanks all for the feedback. Just learned from the dealer that that is not a dealer-installed option - they're already installed (likely at the port). So no option. We'll take them!

You can buy them online and DIY. 3M makes a very nice cut that has an OE appearance. The guards are very stretchy so you have to be careful not to over stretch as you lay it on the door or it will be curvy/wavy. so just comfortably line it up on the door and lightly use your finger to slowly press it into the place. I installed them on my Tesla and they look great. Just about invisible. it helps for certain times where you might open the door a bit too hard and hit something. the edges of doors are very easy to chip.

I think there’s definitely a benefit to these, but my concern is long term dirt and grime buildup on the leading edge of these. So that’ll make them more visible. I’ve seen that happen with the stone guards that some cars (like my IS) have.

if you clean your car often, shouldn't be a problem. if you think it is, don't use it.

3M edge guards
I was going to get the 3M film put on my RX years ago but it was 60$. I bought a roll of it on Amazon for 30$. I have since done cars for family and friends as well. Still have enough for 3 more cars and I have done over 10 vehicles including hatches. Takes me about 20 minutes to do 4 doors and a hatch. https://a.co/d/1vab4DC

So... we picked up our brand new 2024 450h+ on Monday. Just so folks know, at least on this model the 'Door Edge Guard' option for $155 is not the thin 3M film that was pictured earlier and that I expected. It is actually quite a bit thicker. See photo below. I'm not disappointed necessarily but if I had a choice, I would not go for these. They disrupt the clean surface of the sides and from an aerodynamic point of view they're essentially trip strips to mess with the air flow... a bit more drag and maybe even noise (I know... very small, but still). Thought I'd share.

My wife's NXh came with the $95 FILM and it is nearly impossible to tell it was there. But again if I have a choice I would save the $95+tax, really doubt the effectively of such FlLM.

I do not have a NX yet but can't stand them.. very Pep Boys/Advanced Auto. Nice way to pad the bill.

Found the attached instruction for previous gen. Looks like the guards are tapped in. I doubt this gen will be any different IMO.
