Default Door ding w/ a small hole - Cost to repair?

Was this ding caused by a car door or what would have caused this hole? This is located on the back door of the driver side. How much would it cost to have this repaired?

That looks deliberate. Can't say what repair cost will be you'll have to take your car to several body shops to find out.

Or a runaway shopping cart. To the OP...insurance might cover it (less deductible) without any penalty. Weigh the cost of out of pocket vs. insurance claim.... Best bet is talk to your insurance agent for beginners.

could be anything. it's not that hard to poke a hole in a thin sheet metal panel when force is concentrated in one area. your best bet is to take it to a body shop. they'll have to repair and refinish that panel and blend the next two panels in. could be around $3-4k.

I can't imagine shopping cart can punch a hold like it. Relatively simple job, bondo, sand down and repaint the whole door.
Anyway, comprehensive coverage will cover this, less deductible of course.
