Lexus App and weird confluence of unpleasant events
So the wife was at a doctor visit and parked in a parking structure. She calls me after the visit to tell me she cannot find the car. It should be easy to find since there are not that many bright red vehicles around these days. I told her just walk around and she would find the car. In the meantime I loaded the Lexus App on my phone which is supposed to have an option to find the car. Normally when I open the app under the VIN number in the upper left there is also an odometer reading which has always been spot-on. But this time it says N/A and under Vehicle Status is says No Data Found. Naturally the "Find" option was useless as well. So putting together all of this info--she cannot find the car and the app says no data found--I jumped to the conclusion that the vehicle got stolen while in the parking structure and whoever stole it had disabled the vehicle communication to Lexus or whatever. I was just about to call 911 to report a stolen vehicle when the wife she called saying the attendant had driven her around the parking structure and she finally found the car. Weird coincidence was that there was also an identical red NX350H also parked in the structure--what are the odds.
But my real question is what the hell is with the Lexus App. The car is home now and the App still has N/A for odometer reading and No Data Found for Vehicle Status.

When parking away from home
Always park in the same area
Park next to a fixture like a light pole
At a large parking garage. Take a picture of the car on relation to the entrance. Or a picture of the row and spot sign

Figures, I hadn't really used the app in weeks and yesterday I had an email from my card rewards program offering extra rewards for getting gas at the station I normally go to yesterday only, and I wasn't sure if I needed any. No problem, just look at the app for fuel level. Nope, some genius decided to format the system drive on the Lexus server. LOL.

It seems to be working again although opening the app on my Smartphone is frustratingly slow. Also noticed the Last Parked Location is coming up again (was not there yesterday). Funny how the combination of my wife not finding the car and the app not finding the car resulted in my almost calling 911 to report the car stolen. Luckily she found the car just seconds before I was going to dial. Lesson is to never rely totally on technology I guess.
