Default Recommended level 2 charger for NX 450

Surprised there isn't much of a discussion about chargers here. At least, my search didn't turn up any.

Searching around I found NEMA 14-50, 32A chargers ranging from 300 to 650 USD. Wondering if there's any first hand experience with any specific brand. The choices I see are AEFA, Nurzivy, etc.

I owned a Tesla in the past and have a Nema 14-50 outlet installed for use with the Tesla, so am ready to go with the right level 2 charger. I already read the Lexus instructions on level 2 charging, so looking for product recommendations.

Not in a great hurry as Lexus was kind enough to include the level 1 120v slow charger. I intend to keep that in the car for long distance trips to use at my host's home while I have the level 2 charger plugged into the outlet at my own home.

I went with the ChargePoint Home Flex, NEMA 14-50 Plug. I chose ChargePoint because it was the name brand for most of the commercial chargers at the stations and such. Having one account made it simpler in my mind.

I also went to ChargePoint.com website to purchase mine direct from manufacturer. I've purchased too many items from Amazon that were returns or refurbs that I didn't learn about until delivered. I also wanted to purchase from manufacturer for the warranty. A lot of companies won't support a product purchased from Amazon.

I originally was going to have it installed by Qmerit. They are a company that is talked about by Toyota, Lexus, Ford and others as the go to Charger Installer. They are good but EXTREMELY overpriced. They charge for stuff that isn't required as a CYA. They wanted $1,300 to hardwire and install the charger 6" to the left of the electric panel in the garage. I called a local electrician and they informed me a permit was NOT required and it would cost $250. So unless you are doing the install yourself, get pricing. The numbers provided was labor and parts to install. I had to purchase the installer and have it ready.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @SgtLip . I already went through the NEMA 14-50 outlet installation 4 years ago when I bought the Tesla Model 3, so I only need a nema 14-50, 32A charger like the one you bought. Will checkout the ChargePoint charger.

The charger discussions do come up occasionally. Emporia charger has been serving me well.
However if I were looking for one now, Tesla Universal would be on the top of my list.

Using the Tesla J1772 Wall Connector... mind you, it's just for the last 5 days, but seems to be doing a great job!

grizzl-e

I got the smart version and regretted it as the steel case is too strong and wifi keeps reconnecting too often. Save the extra $$ and get the classic version.

It has served me well in the last 6 months.
