I feel that if Lexus was going to use such a small fuel tank of 14.5 gal, they should have made it fuel efficient to easily get to 300-325 miles. It shouldn’t be a struggle. It’s not a high performance turbo. I don’t think this vehicle was engineered for the gas model NX.

Angry Lexus really doesn't seem to care about driving range

So on their new performance TX 550h+ Lexus reduced the gas tank size from 17.1 to 14.5 gallons on other models and although the mpg isn't stated yet it will be less than TX 500h+ overall of 27. TX550h+ owners are really going to be displeased with their actual range. I don't think Lexus really cares about gas tank range, only what they can fit into existing car size/space without much engineering thought.

The 350 NX is a great car and I am sorry your range is not longer. However remember Lexus is very, very conservative on their gas gauge and DTE. when the bars are gone and the DTE is blank your still have a reserve of 2.8-3.0 gallons which even at only 21 mpg is an additional 58.8 to 63 miles you can drive.

YMMV,

I filled up at lunch a bit ago. I drove maybe 4 miles after. App says 331 miles to empty.

But doesn’t that seem about right when your 70% driving is highway miles?

I’m new to this car but yeah seems about right. It has all been in town Highway, never more than 30 miles from home, but a lot of short highway trips (work is 22 miles away).

I don’t get over 300 miles of range either. I once saw 292, but it sits at 286-287 on fill up always. I use Premium. I’m at 6900 miles. I drive in Normal mode.

I don’t drive daily so it’s okay, but I’m having a hard time understanding why Lexus put a small tank in their ICE version. 300+ miles range should be standard.

The vehicle does the math to calculate range based on your current overall average. The car itself has the ability for lots more range than you are getting, but maybe there are factors outside of your control based on where you need to drive that are bringing your average down. City driving, lots of stop and go idling will kill your average. I hate idling my NX350 because I can watch 1/10ths fall away in minutes of idling. It's easy to lose them but hard to gain them back with more efficient driving. If you took your same vehicle out on a highway trip it would give you way more range than currently displayed, so keep that in mind. It's there, but you just don't see it.

At 29.3 average on a full fill my range displays around 370 miles, 29.4 is 379-380, and 29.5 MPG is 384 miles of range displayed as an example of how it calculates. It even seems to do the math in between the 1/10ths. Dip the MPG average way lower, and the calculated range displayed takes a huge hit.

I’m new to the NX but will share my experience with a 2017 Tacoma over 94k miles. It was driven easy, well maintained and all stock. Fuel economy ranged from 21.7 to 22.4, peaking at 24.5. Spot checking tanks at the gas pump showed that the computer was pretty consistently .1 mpg high.

The onboard display showed 385 on a fillup, and could go 400 running it too low. Which I did a couple times (never ran out). So getting slightly less in the NX isn’t a big deal. I’m

I got 422 out of the tank this past weekend. Filled it up to the top of the neck and the first bar didn't come off the gauge until 117 miles down the road.

Motor setting - NORMAL

I did get 311 actual miles on the tank before I filled up. I did remote start it about half the time as it was cold.

I don’t understand how some can’t even reach 300 on a tank and others are getting over 300 and some over 400 miles on a tank. How can it be so varied on the same NX350 gas engine?

Driving style and location. If you drive a lot of hills it will be less. If it idles a lot, less. Driven aggressively, stop & go, or just slow (like 20 mph steady), it will be low.

I drive easy, meaning I accelerate moderately slow, go the speed limit, and coast to a stop where possible. Goes a long way. Where I live is pretty flat (N Texas), and generally warmer. Oh yeah, cold weather zaps fuel economy. So does really hot as the a/c works harder.
