I am trying to put aftermarket mudflaps on my nx450h+. I came across these weird fasteners on the bottom that I will need to remove to install the flaps. Does anyone know how to remove/replace? I don’t want to jack them up trying to remove them. I know how to get the top ones out, but I have never seen the bottom style.
What flaps did you buy? I'd love to find something like the Rally Armor ones I had on my Outback and Crosstrek before. I'm also interested in the answer to this question.
I'm not 100% certain, but I have a vague recollection of removing something similar. If I recall correctly, you have to push the inner parts apart to release the clip. Perhaps try gently with a screwdriver to see if there's any give.
It's a push pull fastener. Use a flat head screwdriver and lift the inner disk. The assembly doesn't come apart, you can removed the push pull fastener once the center portion is raised.
You can find several toyota mud flap instillation videos on youtube. Toyota uses the exact same fasteners.

I got the A-Armor ones off of Amazon. They were like 29.99 with a 5% coupon you can clip. I just put them on, so I don't know how will they will do. They seem like they will work out just fine though.
After taking the square aforementioned fasteners off I tried a little to put them back in but they didn't seem to want to go back in since the flap doesn't have a square hole. I ended up using one of these fasteners on each of the front front mudflaps. It came in this kit off of Amazon. I just purchased the whole kit a while back because I hate breaking these clips and not having one around to replace.
