Default Normal, Eco, or Sport?

Not sure how to survey this so I’ll just start a thread. NX350h should average 41 in town and 37 highway…39 combined. But—is that driving in Normal or Eco? It can’t be sport. So that’s my first question.

Next question is what mode do you use, and, what MPG do you get in that mode with the NX 350h?

Thanks in advance.

Sport in my regular 350. I don't care about gas mileage.

I get great MPG using normal in my 350h. I use Eco in the winter when streets are slick. The increased regenerative braking under Eco slows the car down more when coasting, without having to use the brakes.

Yes, that is Sport mode as well. Remember, Toyota has to EPA cert the mpg in any motor condition available. The NX doesn’t “add” power using fuel, only changes the feel of the controls. Cars like the small Ford turbo car may be tested in its normal driving condition, and I suspect they also test the overboost button as well.

We drive in Normal almost all the time. We are right at 39mpg over the first 6k miles.

Very interesting response. My small (2.3L) turbo Ford does okay , but it doesn't have overboost. In normal or eco mode the mode retains; sport goes back to normal when you restart. I think your driving habits, acceleration, braking, speed in curves, lane switching have to do more with your overall mpg than the mode you are driving in.

I typically drive all my hybrids in eco, normal is a little more responsive and sport maybe more UNLESS YOUR FLOOR IT then they all accelerated the same.

I really like Toyota's new hybrid mode: Custom, but sadly that isn't available yet on the NX.

YMMV,
