Default Do I really need Service 3 to be done?

My 2022 NX350h picked up on Dec 2022 and only have 7000km, got second free maintenance on July 2023. Today I got a call from local dealer and asked me to schedule an appointment for Service 3 which would cost $350 plus tax. What if I don’t do it and go to Toyota dealer to get oil changed once it reached to 10000km?
first time Lexus owner any advise would be greatly appreciated!

You can just go to your own mechanic if you want to. Or do it yourself.

thanks for your reply, so you mean no need to take their Service 3?

Once you have to pay for it do what you wish. Just keep all receipts and documents.

I never go in and ask for the 10,000 the 20,000 the 30,000 mi schedule maintenance. 75% of what you're paying for is inspections that in my opinion I do not need. I do everything à la carte. Every 10,000 mi I get the oil changed . Every 30,000 mi I get the brake fluid changed. I changed the air and cabin filters myself which takes less than 5 minutes and cost $40 for both once a year. That service that you're paying that much money for is basically an oil change and a tire rotation.

Service 2 is just Service 1 with an oil change, Service 3 is just Service 2 with, well its pretty much the same. Other than oil change, everything else is tire rotations and inspections until you hit special milestones for other fluid replacements. The most important thing is simply the oil change. After a year, regardless of distance, the oil should be changed and especially so if the car is frequently driven short distances (and double especially if it sits for many days after driving short distances). These engines are known to condense water into the oil under these type of conditions.

Anyone can do it, you just need proof its been done for warranty purposes. A Toyota dealer can do the oil change and inspections equally well (probably using the same OEM filter and mediocre bulk oil), usually for a bit less but if an issue is discovered during inspection then it'll have to go back to Lexus for warranty. I used to service my old RX mostly at Toyota.

Outside of proper fluid changes, they can't really give you warranty denials if you are late on inspections, since they don't actually do anything, just look. But if a problem goes undiscovered too long and causes additional issues, then they might have a case (usually fluid leaks are most tricky to notice until they get really bad)

You sure it's service #3? Your NX is 1 year old only.. so you should only be on Service #2. Did you do an oil change in July 2023?

Did you request to do the oil change early like other say to do the oil change every 6 months rather than 1 year? Seems like they accelerated your maintenance service schedule.

Lightbulb typical Lexus maintenance and servcie schedules

My thoughts, get away from Lexus Service. I agree with oil change every 6 months : however Lexus uses synthetic oil and their OWN recommendation is 10,000 mile oil change.

Key things : every 5,000 miles replace oil and filter with the recommended oil for your car model, rotate tires . tire places rotate for free. even the most expressive oil change should be less$100 Oil grade: ILSAC GF-6B multigrade engine oil Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-16 (from Lexus Owner's Manual)

Wiper blades need to be changed about every 10,000 miles.

Look at schedule below: major items
At 30k, 60K, 90K replace brake fluid
at 60K miles replace transmission fluid.

Find a good automotive shop and get your work done their; not Lexus ( unless you like free Lexus coffee and cookies)
