Default Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of automatic high beams?

Is there a way to set it to be more sensitive to lights. Mine doesn't seem to detects a vehicle approaching and turn off

Thanks

You can change the sensitivity of when the headlights automatically come on (which may also affect the sensitivity of when the Auto high beams come on) but I'm unaware of any way to change the sensitivity specifically for the Auto high beams only.

You can change the auto-on headlight sensitivity by going to Setup > Vehicle Customization > Lighting > Headlights and see if changing that sensitivity setting also alters the Auto high beams sensitivity too.

Make sure the sensor is not obstructed and the windshield is kept reasonably clean.

I think the Auto High beam sensitivity on my 2018 GS450h is perfect and I wouldn't change it even if the sensitivity specifically for it could be changed.

If your particular vehicle has the shaded high beam option, then its common for the high beams to remain on even with cars around you. The idea is when the shaded high beams are active it will automatically adjust so as NOT to shine directly at the other cars, but still brightly light up specific areas where there aren't cars. If you have a button on the very end of the stalk, this turns the shaded system on and off.

Ah, I didn't realize that. OK, without seeing the specs of your model/options, I think the shaded system comes with the triple beam headlights. If you have those, you probably have the shaded beams (I think), and if you don't, I'm pretty sure no shaded HBs. I just don't recall if the triple beams have a choice of yes or no on the SHS, but I think its yes.

I do have triple beams. My ride is a 2023 nx350 fsport series 1 in Canada. It must have the shaded system and that would explain why my highbeam don't turn off with approaching vehicles.

I have a 2024 nx 350 f sport and my high beams always automatically dim with approaching vehicles. It also dims when i slow down at a stop sign.

I am sorry my response wasn't clearer. There is one adjustment that can be made to the high beam sensitivity, but it has to be made by the Lexus dealership.

The setting is the second one shown above, "Brightness and illuminated area adjustment of the high beams according to the vehicle speed". There are three settings: 9 mph, 19 mph, 50mph, The higher the speed number, the quicker it will detect the oncoming lights and dim your lights. For example if you current setting is 19 mph and it is detecting too soon, then change it to 9mph. If the current setting is not detecting soon enough the change it to 50 mph. In your case ask your Lexus dealership what your current setting is and increase it. If you are already at setting 50 mph , then there is nothing else you can do.

Good luck in resolving your problem.

YMMV,

You actually have quad beams. The triple beams are the low lights and the 4th one is the adaptive high beam. The high beam light will NOT turn off, the beam is adaptive and will not shine towards the vehicles approaching you.

Fog drives them crazy as well. I have to disable automatic highbeams in fog because it goes back and forth and can be quite distracting, if not dangerous.
