Default Piano Black Solution

I feel like the worse part about the NX interior is the piano black around the shifter ****. Is it possible to have that area wrapped? Can a tint shop use regular window tint to mold it around that area so it protects it from scratches, fingerprints and grease/oils.

There has to be something you can put on that area to protect it because after a few years it’s going to look like crap and lessen the premium look of the interior.

What are owners doing, just let it get scratched all up or have you put some film over it to protect it? I wish that whole piece would pry/pop off and could be replaced with same interior trim as around the cup holders.

We wrapped our interior pieces in glossy PPF. The exterior is fully wrapped so when we were doing that, the interior pieces got the same treatment and it's been so much better.

Detailers that offer external.PPF will also be able to PPF those interior parts.

There are plastic covers in Amazon or Aliexpress that you can stick on top of the glossy parts

Default I used covers

I agree the piano black makes it look pretty terrible and unsightly, especially since it's a fingerprint magnet.

I bought a bunch of covers off AliExpress which I used to cover them up.

Edit: I've had them installed since September 2022 with no issues at all.

I also had ppf on my exterior and all edges are tucked so it looks seamless. Can you see the edges on your interior?

That looks really good, did you do it yourself? How hard was it to get all the curved edges down? Is this like a template especially for the NX?

It was pretty easy to do actually. The covers already come laser cut for the NX and they have a 3M backing that allows it to adhere in place. So I really didn't have much to do besides wiping down before applying and peeling off the backing.

Do you have a photo of what it looks like or can you not even see it and it looks exactly like the factory?

Can you provide a link to where you ordered? The carbon fiber would look great with the circuit red as well.

Here's the one I ordered on AliExpress.

Don't let the pricing fool you: you'll have to pick the various trim pieces you want. The pieces I ordered cost me a bit over CAD$100.

Thanks for link.
It’s good they don’t bundle and let you order only the pieces you want. What if you don’t have a hot air gun? Can you use a hairdryer? I wonder how these hold up in 95+ degrees like we get in FL.

Though I do have a hot air gun, I find that the heat from a hair dryer is easier to manage.

I also used a hair dryer; didn't want to melt my 2 month old interior components😜🤣

As for the heat, in my part of Canada (Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, BC) in the summer we regularly get up to 35°C (which is circa 100°F), and I've had no problems whatsoever.

I've had them on for about 17 months now and two summers.
