Damn me. My mistake. You are right. I reversed the car on the driveway to be able to vacuum the trunk (short cord) and mindlessly tried to open the fuel door because that's where the charge port door was before I reversed it.

Clearly a brain fart today morning. Glad you pointed that out.

You just made my day! LOL no worries! Please keep in mind though there must be a little cutaway for the felt like material on the inside of the trunk where your flap would be located. You should be able to pull it out with a screwdriver maybe and expose an emergency door release. See your manual:
