Yes it matters, affects the reading more or less. Try to find a leveled ground and check again.

Okay level ground. I will try again. You are probably also going to tell me the dipstick shouldn't be hot to the touch and somewhat smoking when I pull it out to read it. I have to use cloth gloves.

So on level the dark side is a little lower( maybe higher viscosity) than the clearer side.

Do I need an engine overhauls ? Even with 93 Octane , I get occasional knocking and loss of power.

And i thought Lexus was reliable nad trouble free.

@kukudm thanks for all your help

YMMV,

Yea no problem. Does the oil on lower side of the dipstick drop back to the 2nd dot?

Actually the black color oil bothers me the most. With your fresh oil, they should mix together, instead of showing two different colors. It almost seems like something is preventing the new & old oil to mix together in the pan. I'm not sure, maybe you need to drive the car a little bit more and then check the color again.

I give up. There is one full service station left. The owner is very old but he likes giving full service like the old days. As long as he keeps working at that service station, I am going to keep going there. I had him change the oil and filter and now it is clear on both sides of the dip stick between 2nd and 3rd dots. This guy, Jerimiah, is my hero. Long live Jerimiah, he is in his eighties. For now my oil is good YEAH!

YMMV,

I had the same issue, here's my thread I started last year about it.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-...m-factory.html

Quick summary of what happened to me, I took it to Lexus and the tech checked the oil and said it was overfilled by a quart. Not sure if he went by looking at the dipstick or actually measured the drained oil. After they changed the oil, the level was correct on the dipstick after waiting a few minutes after the car was shut off.
