2022 Lexus NX Spied (post #67 with new image)

I’m looking forward to seeing the 2022 NX. My lease is up in February 2022 and it sounds like the new NX may not be out yet by then. Have about a year to decide whether I will pick up an RX during next year’s December to Remember or buy out my 19 NX and wait a year or two and get the redesigned NX. The rumored increase in power and size would make the NX perfect for me.

My wife has a 2021 NX F Sport she just recently got. She really likes it a lot, but when I compare it to the 2020 Toyota Highlander I own, it is really not my cup of tea. I don't care for the stiff sporty ride, the cabin feels way too small for my taste, and the touch pad just seems too flakey for me. I know I am in the minority here, and comparing it to a Highlander is an apples to orange comparison, but just offering my opinion. As long as my wife is happy with it, that's all that matters to me.

IMO the two best colors. Seems like the screen will be 12 inches. Real leather will be an option. If Forbes is correct with the plug-in starting in the low 40's than a fully loaded will be around $50,000 but there will be a $7,500 tax credit.

Also, if Lexus does have a 2022 NX plug-in hybrid, another issue is likely going to be trying to find one to buy. At this point, RAV4 plug-in hybrids are virtually impossible to find in most of the country, and, because of high demand and low supply, it is more likely that people are paying a premium above MSRP than they are to be getting a discount from MSRP. I suspect that the same thing would be true with an NX plug-in hybrid.

Considering that there has typically been about a $10,000 MSRP difference between an NX and a similarly-equipped RAV4 and considering that the RAV4 plug-in hybrid starts with a base MSRP just under $40,000 and, fully loaded, will run over $50,000, I would be surprised if a well-equipped new NX plug-in hybrid ends up with a MSRP anywhere near $50,000. I think that closer to $60,000 would be a more accurate guess.

I agree with you on all points Les. My 2016 300h is a base+premium with a sticker of $48,803 USD. Assuming prices aren't going down, it is hard to imagine a similarly well equipped 2022 model year plug-in with an MSRP of anything less than $55K to $60K. A luxury package plug-in model could easily top $60K in my opinion.

It's possible NX350 could still mean a 4cyl, perhaps a more potent version of the turbo 4. It would be a shame if they got rid of the turbo 4 since it does a nice job. They have done some off-brand cylinder count naming with the current LS500 and other models in the past so I wouldn't be surprised. I also wouldn't be surprised if they just stick the V6 in there as they do with many models.

They have been saying for while now its going to be a new 2.4L turbo in the NX350, I think that is just misinformation on the 6 cyl. Spyshots really look like a Mazda CX-5, can't wait to see it with the skin off....doesn't seem that much bigger than the current gen to me. Hope I didn't wait for nothing

I'm hoping it doesn't grow too much, though...I was at the grocery store the other day, and in the parking lot was a new RAV4 which seemed to be just about the same size as my '04 RX. If the new NX is based on the RAV4 but larger, and the RAV4 is just about the same size as my old RX, then the new NX may be the same size or even larger than my old RX...and I'm looking for something slightly smaller.
Mind you, I do hope the engine grows as we've heard...a nearly 300 HP turbo four in a smallish SUV would make for a pleasant commute.

Hope the back end and taillights end up looking like this. I like looks like the new Venza from the back.
