I’m looking forward to seeing the 2022 NX. My lease is up in February 2022 and it sounds like the new NX may not be out yet by then. Have about a year to decide whether I will pick up an RX during next year’s December to Remember or buy out my 19 NX and wait a year or two and get the redesigned NX. The rumored increase in power and size would make the NX perfect for me.

My wife has a 2021 NX F Sport she just recently got. She really likes it a lot, but when I compare it to the 2020 Toyota Highlander I own, it is really not my cup of tea. I don't care for the stiff sporty ride, the cabin feels way too small for my taste, and the touch pad just seems too flakey for me. I know I am in the minority here, and comparing it to a Highlander is an apples to orange comparison, but just offering my opinion. As long as my wife is happy with it, that's all that matters to me.

You could extend your lease for 6 months also

Why would you make a post to tell Lexus NX owners that you like the Highlander better than the NX? Are you hoping to turn NX owners into Highlander owners? My sister in law has a Highlander, what a piece of junk that is, handles like a boat and zero fun factor. I suppose if all you want is a square box to drive from point A to point B, the highlander will be fine along with thousands of SUVs out there. One think I must ask, If you want a soft ride, why on earth would you get a F Sport, next time, please do some homework before buying.

Considering that there has typically been about a $10,000 MSRP difference between an NX and a similarly-equipped RAV4 and considering that the RAV4 plug-in hybrid starts with a base MSRP just under $40,000 and, fully loaded, will run over $50,000, I would be surprised if a well-equipped new NX plug-in hybrid ends up with a MSRP anywhere near $50,000. I think that closer to $60,000 would be a more accurate guess.

Also, if Lexus does have a 2022 NX plug-in hybrid, another issue is likely going to be trying to find one to buy. At this point, RAV4 plug-in hybrids are virtually impossible to find in most of the country, and, because of high demand and low supply, it is more likely that people are paying a premium above MSRP than they are to be getting a discount from MSRP. I suspect that the same thing would be true with an NX plug-in hybrid.

I agree with you on all points Les. My 2016 300h is a base+premium with a sticker of $48,803 USD. Assuming prices aren't going down, it is hard to imagine a similarly well equipped 2022 model year plug-in with an MSRP of anything less than $55K to $60K. A luxury package plug-in model could easily top $60K in my opinion.

About 3 months ago, I got tired of waiting for Lexus to introduce a Generation 2 NX, and I bought a 2021 RAV4 Limited Hybrid. It has virtually every option available on the RAV4, including all of the technology and safety features, and its MSRP was a bit under $42,000. I couldn't be happier with my decision. The current RAV4 is significantly better, in many ways, than either the current generation NX or the previous generation RAV4. Had I chosen to buy a current generation NX equipped similarly to my RAV4, the MSRP would easily have been more than $10,000 higher than was the MSRP for the RAV4.

Good catch, thanks for posting!

I'm not sure I buy their logic on the engine choices...a V-6 just seems a bit much for a vehicle this size.

I agree, the same old V6, while a great engine, just dosent fit the techy character I get from the NX. A turbo or hybrid feels more right in the NX.

It's possible NX350 could still mean a 4cyl, perhaps a more potent version of the turbo 4. It would be a shame if they got rid of the turbo 4 since it does a nice job. They have done some off-brand cylinder count naming with the current LS500 and other models in the past so I wouldn't be surprised. I also wouldn't be surprised if they just stick the V6 in there as they do with many models.

They have been saying for while now its going to be a new 2.4L turbo in the NX350, I think that is just misinformation on the 6 cyl. Spyshots really look like a Mazda CX-5, can't wait to see it with the skin off....doesn't seem that much bigger than the current gen to me. Hope I didn't wait for nothing

I'm hoping it doesn't grow too much, though...I was at the grocery store the other day, and in the parking lot was a new RAV4 which seemed to be just about the same size as my '04 RX. If the new NX is based on the RAV4 but larger, and the RAV4 is just about the same size as my old RX, then the new NX may be the same size or even larger than my old RX...and I'm looking for something slightly smaller.

Mind you, I do hope the engine grows as we've heard...a nearly 300 HP turbo four in a smallish SUV would make for a pleasant commute.

Spy shots look like they smoothed out some of the sharp creases on the current NX, more conventional look. Also the grill seems to be less exaggerated.

This link was posted in a thread under Car Chat but good for you for posting because for sure a lot of NX owners missed that. Very excited about this 2022 NX with the plug-in hybrid version like the Toyota RAV4 prime. With 302 horsepower, 42 miles of electric range, 40 mpg after that and a $7,500 tax credit I will be first in line. The NX is already a hot seller for Lexus being #2 in sales behind the RX.

Hope the back end and taillights end up looking like this. I like looks like the new Venza from the back.
