Default More kudos for the NX

J D Power just ranked Lexus best/lowest in depreciation in the luxury category and the NX best in the premium compact SUV group. Couple this with Consumer Reports ranks the NX as the most reliable SUV and Lexus #1 in reliability. Hesitant posting this because like I need more competition trying to buy a 2022.

Likely correct but unfortunately doesn't mean much coming from JD Power. Manufacturers order and pay for awards and surveys from JD Power designed so that they are the winners to be used in their advertisements.

Isn't JD Power pretty neutral when rating vehicles? Looking at the vehicles they note for residuals, etc., they seem to have hit the mark, at least as to what sells around here.

They are completely neutral. All they do is survey owners of vehicles and report the owners scores.

A quick google search will pretty much explain how JD Power earns their money. Hint it is not from consumers.

I use Consumer Reports that surveys 750K actual owners and is non profit.

It also means the 2021 model is great. This year is the last of what a 7 year run?

This spring you will see all of the issues this first of its kind Lexus model will bring. Besides all of the issues of the RAV4 TGNA Drivetrain. All of the new electronics equipment. As well as a whole new level of Lexus customer support needed to maintain and operate the software on the vehicle.

I am not sure the first-gen NX model year 2021 or earlier are "great" because there are so so many improvements made to generation 2 models: more rear leg space, bigger space behind the seating area, touch screen finally instead of touch pad, significantly better mileage, significantly better performance, and of course red-line color. Unless they significantly discount the new 2021 NXs that haven't arrived at the Lexus dealerships, they will sit on the lot as smart buyers, like me, will wait for the 2022 NXs. I personally don't think you are going to see very many first-year issues on the 2022 NXs.

Agree it's a Lexus there will be no first year issues. Consumer Reports ranks the NX the most reliable SUV. Your point about sitting on the lots the 21's is correct especially since the 2022 are less than a thousand dollars more.

In the 2022 WhatCar awards, Lexus is #1 in reliability ranking and the NX450h+ wins best plug-in hybrid SUV.

Best for reliability

1st: Lexus – 98.7% reliability rating

If you’re a gambler looking for a safe bet, putting your money on Lexus topping the annual What Car? Reliability Survey is about as good as it gets. Toyota’s luxury brand has now finished first in our chart for newer models for five consecutive years, with Lexus owners telling us their cars suffered hardly any faults. Meanwhile, those that did surface were fixed swiftly and cheaply.

Best plug-in hybrid: Lexus NX 450h+ F Sport

There’s no shortage of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) to rescue drivers who are attracted to zero-emissions motoring but are not ready to go fully electric. However, the one we’d recommend calling on is the Lexus NX. It’s a large SUV that can officially travel 42.2 miles purely on electric power – further than key rivals. In real-world driving, 30-35 miles should be - in other words, enough for most commutes.

Refinement is another NX superpower. It’s impressively smooth and quiet, even when the battery has been exhausted and the 2.5-litre petrol engine has taken over propulsion duties. Meanwhile, the handling is suitably reassuring, with steering that feels natural and consistent. Previous Lexus infotainment systems have been overly complicated, but thankfully the NX has a much more intuitive set-up. In fact, the interior is pretty hard to fault in any respect and it feels very well put together.
