Default Toyota cuts production including Lexus NX amid further chip shortages

Good luck to all, get yours while you can. Really unfortunate situation for anyone waiting. I hope it is not longer than 10 days as stated.

The Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has announced significant production delays on some of its most popular models including the RAV4 midsize SUV and the new-generation Lexus NX.In a statement released overnight, Toyota said it has been forced to cut its February production expectations by 150,000 units to around 700,000.

Toyota listed the below cars and SUVs as missing at least 10 days of production:
  • Toyota GR Yaris
  • Toyota Yaris
  • Toyota Yaris Cross
  • Toyota C-HR
  • Lexus NX (including NX 450h+)
  • Lexus UX (including UX 300e)

Other models have fared better and will only see a delay of two days, including:
  • Toyota RAV4
  • Toyota Corolla
  • Toyota Corolla Cross
  • Toyota Camry
  • Toyota Prius
  • Lexus ES
  • Lexus LS (four-day delay)

Sigh... Good luck everybody who has their orders. Hope it won't impact your plans.

I'd already resigned myself to not getting an NX until at least this summer...hopefully this doesn't continue that long, although from some of the account I've seen we'll be dealing with this into 2023.

Mine allegedly went into production two Wednesdays ago but, radio silence since then. I assume it was built already. But, who really knows.

For me I don't really care when it comes per se. I ended up getting the opportunity to acquire one of my dream limited production vehicles that arrives at its dealer on week 5. So - ill be giving the NX to my wife anyways.

Based on this news it shows that the NX is built in 2 plants in Japan: Tahara Plant and the Miyata Plant. The NX450h+ PHEV is only made in the Miyata Plant.

Default 2022 NX 350h

I currently have a 2019 NX300h, but was hoping to get the new NX350h. I could have had one when they first started showing up at the dealerships, but I'm particular on the color. So now I wait. Dealership keeps trying to reassure me it won't be long. I doubt it though. I have looked at many dealerships east of the Mississippi River and found inventory very low. Most I have seen is around three in stock just not the color or package I want.

I thought I read an article that said Toyota had solved it's chip problem and would be able to get what they needed. Apparently something happened and their deal fell through.

I am on a waiting list for the 350h. I guess it will be a longer wait.

Last week my dealer in transit had two 350h, with my perfect configuration apart from color. I rushed to dealer to see if it can be allocated. He said that I'm 50+ in the waiting list so I've to wait.
Hope it's not too long, if i see my current car shows any signs of trouble (out of warranty). I'll just bite the bullet and go to RDX, Volvo XC60 or GLC. All three are in my backup list.
