Auto Dimming Side Mirrors

It;s crazy. Sometimes the mirrors tint and sometimes
they don't. Same situation with the inside rear view mirror.
My mirrors do not tilt in reverse.. Does anyone's?

Could it be that the passenger side mirror is convex which somewhat automatically diffuses the glare from headlights?
