Wireless Charging
#91
Did you find that due to the hump the iPhone 14 moved around during driving and that stopped the charging or did they change the pad so it sticks more? I am getting a ‘23 at the end of the month so interested. I understand that provided you have MagSafe charging, the ring only keeps the phone from moving around but the hump won’t allow flat contact and therefore not a good charge either.

Just breaking in my new 2024 white with palomino NX350h. A beautiful piece of Canadian workmanship. Qi charging pad is very unreliable which is very un-Lexus-like. Hope they are working on a solution to this embarrassing flaw.

nope. They don’t even acknowledge it as a problem.

So this is what I did and it works. I have an iPhone 12 Pro. The wet streaks are from the alcohol I had just wiped everything down with. The phone sticks well to the ring (I have a MagCase on it). Charging is no slower than it was without the ring and it keeps the phone from sliding around and off the charge plate.

22 NX 350h, iPhone 13 Pro Max in a leather MagSafe case. I've given up on the NX's wireless charging, even after the dealership replaced the tray with the updated part. It was still intermittent. I also had problems with overheating when it was charging. I've had this issue in several makes of rental cars as well. If I wirelessly charge the phone and use wireless CarPlay, the phone sometimes overheats and stops CarPlay until it cools down. It's rather unnerving when driving in an unfamiliar city and navigation suddenly disappears from the screen.
I now use only wired CarPlay when in rental cars. For my NX, I got a MagSafe mount powered with the USB-C port. Interestingly, I use wireless CarPlay with this and it never overheats. This may be due to more stable wireless charging (no camera bump gap).

Well, if the ring is raised then it should compensate for the cameras thickness. With wireless charging a "thick ring" should do the trick and still be able to get the juice into the phone.
Also, the ring should hold it in the perfect spot for charging.
For me - my phone holds charges for days - AND - if using CarPlay... the phone uses VERY little juice because the car screen is pushing out what typically costs the phone to drain most quickly. (the screen)
