Hi there,
I'm picking up my NX450H+ within the next two weeks. It is my first Lexus (and second Toyota - FJ Cruiser) and I am wondering about the extra care packages offered. Other than the FJ I have been driving German cars exclusively for over twenty years and so I am going back and forth with this i.e. Gold/Platinum Plan. If not for the FJ I'd probably be getting another AMG.
Any other suggestions appreciated (theft deterrent systems?).
Thanks!

I bought a 60 month/100k platinum when I got my 450h. It does include the first 3 years of service maintenance.
Also purchased the tire warranty in case of the RFT cannot be repaired as the 20 inch tires are not cheap too replace.

There are lots of electronics on cars these days, maybe it's worth considering? I don't keep my vehicles more than 15-18 months so I pass.
I did buy the wheel tire warranty, and have used it in the past with great success. Definitely saved money there. One rim and at least three flats. Two were fixed and one tire replaced, One new rim.
Just found out with my new insurance policy that wheels and tires are covered anyway...go figure.

One of the reasons we purchase quality vehicles is that we keep them about 8 years, replacing one every 4 years. Using this strategy, we’ve always purchased an extended warranty and a rust prevention package and it has always been a wise decision, both for the peace of mind and cost avoidance (ac system replacement, alternator, rear hatch shocks, etc.). If you’re someone who replaces your vehicle every 2-3 years, the standard warranty coverage should suffice. We have an 8 year old RX350 that is running “like new” (my wife has a 3 year old Mercedes GLC 300) which we’re trading on an NX 350H, scheduled to arrive in June. Under the extended warranty we have been able to maintain this vehicle at no significant additional cost and the dealership gave us a very respectable trade-in value, knowing the vehicle and its maintenance history. I have friends that never purchase any form of extended warranty because they roll their vehicles every few year (before the standard warranty expires) and that works for them. I purchase quality vehicles that I love to drive (Lexus, Volvo, Mercedes) and amortizing the cost over an extended period works for me. Al this to say, it can work either way, depending on your purchasing strategy.

Thanks for the feedback all. I've decided to skip the extended warranties and get the tire and wheel warranty. I drop my AMG off on Monday...going to be weird not having a German car, but I'm looking forward to driving something more restrained. My wife has a VW Touareg TDI with 50k kilometres that gets crazy mileage—going to be interesting to compare. It's a phenomenal vehicle.
