I don't know why I haven't seen this thread before. Here's my 22 350h. The tint was done by the dealership. I believe it's the Texas legal 25%.

Default Anyone tint their NX front windows

I'm thinking about getting my front 2 windows tinted before the summer comes.

Anyone have pictures of their tint and percentage?

The tint place wanted $250 with llumar stratus.

Check out the pictures below. I got a pretty good deal on mine when I did last year during September when businesses are slow. Also I usually go to the same guy for all our cars so he gave me a huge discount when I bought my Lexus. To answer your question.
Front windows : 20% visibility
Rear windows : 5% visibility

Note: you could get puller over for 20% visibility since in California 30% visibility is minimum. On the side note, my guy mentions everyone & eveytime “ don’t drive like a **** so you won’t get pulled over for some other reason and you get a ticket for tint as well.”

Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking about 30% or 35% in front. Not touching the back. What's the default tint in the back.

I heard that police only pull over for the front, not back windows.

Get them all the same , looks so so much better I have 35% and it is great

It looks like a soccer mom when you tint back windows darker than fronts.

If heat is the issue, , you can also coat the front window for UV rejection and cools car more

YMMV,

@websurfer be careful, the factory back window tinting does not have UV and heat rejections, iti is just colored tint only. It is actually better to do all the windows. Check and verify with your installer. I used XPEL XR PLUS 30% all around. Sorry earlier I said 35% I paid $495 There are lots of flt by night tint companies. Pay a little more and get the best!. Another great brand I have used is Huber Optik

Good Luck

Yes. 30% is the legal limit and yes cops can pull you over for the front window tint exceeding 30%. The factory tint for the back windows is only for visibility tint. I had mine the ceramic tint what they call and should keep your car much cooler inside during the peak summer months. And I can vouch for you it does pretty good job.

Window Tint Standards can be found in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 37, Part 1, Rule 21.3. NOTE: Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver that have less than 25% light transmission will fail inspection, regardless of the model year of the vehicle.

Didn't know in CA 30% was legal, thanks. I thought all front tint was not legal.

The place that I did the PPF used to be a llumar shop but now they carry XPEL. XPEL appears darker tint from the samples they displayed. Please share details on XPEL tint.

Here's the llumar one I'm looking at:

Basically use at your own risk I have had on my old vehicle 20% front and 5% back and never had any issues with police, even when I got pulled over for other stuff. But I guess it depends from person to person and from place to place. Anyway, from what I heard Lexus comes with 20% on the back windows, so I put 20% (illegal) on front as well and I just ordered an tint meter to check the % of the tint as well as UV, so will see what it will measure. I did not know that factory one may not be UV protected, will see if it truly is or not, I may need to re-tint those if they are not.

What are the similarities Between XPEL XR and XPEL XR Plus?

  1. Ceramic Particle Technology: Both Prime XR and Prime XR Plus use ceramic particle technology, making them more heat resistant than regular dyed and metalized window films.
  2. UV Ray Protection: Both films have an SPF rating of 1000, recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, and can reflect 99% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, keeping the car interior cool even on hot summer days.
  3. No Signal Interference: Both films allow unrestricted access to cellphone and radio signals, as they are engineered to reflect UV and infrared rays without stopping lower frequency mobile and radio signals.
  4. Glare Reduction: Both films have similar glare-reducing properties, reducing glare by 95%.
Read also: What is XPEL Paint Protection Film?

What are the differences Between XPEL XR and XPEL XR Plus?

  1. Heat Repellent Properties: While XPEL XR does a good job of keeping heat outside, the XR Plus has a unique blend of nanoceramic particles that give it superior heat-repellent properties. The XR Plus has a higher infrared reflection rate and can reflect as much as 71% of solar energy, making it better at heat rejection.
  2. Clarity: The XR offers more color choices than the XR Prime, but the XR Prime allows superior light access despite having the same tint percentage, giving it the edge in terms of visibility.
The key differences between XPEL XR and XPEL XR Plus are the XR Plus’s superior visibility and heat reduction abilities. While the base XR film is a good deal for those who find the extra functionality of the XR Plus too nuanced, the XR Plus is worth the extra cost for those who frequently drive under sunny conditions and prefer better road visibility without reducing tint.

======

I heard Llumar was pretty good also
Llumar tints are known for their rich, crisp appearance that enhances any vehicle's aesthetics. Xpel, on the other hand, takes pride in providing a high degree of clarity not compromising your vehicle's look.Nov 3, 2023

from Tint guy ( not sure who he is but a reasonable comparison) https://thetintguy.com/llumar-vs-xpe...e's%20look.

Good Luck!

I think you would be pleased with either. Also, as I said before look at Huber Optik

YMMV,
MidCow3

P.S. - so I basically drive the same on my NX , maybe a little more normal, and sadly my mileage has dropped to 35.2 ... Oh Well
