Default Lexus manuals

Not to discourage discussion on the forums but most of these questions are asked multiple times and are easily found in the manuals. There are also online manuals that you could download and do a search for a particular word or phrase in the manual. It seems like it is more effort to post these questions in the forums then it is to just do a simple search in the manual.

I waited for my vehicle to be delivered for three months and during that time I read all the manuals front to back multiple times. With the same questions being asked, it just leads me to believe that people don’t bother to read the manuals any longer.

100% agree. It has made me consider leaving the forum….. still here for now, in the hope that things will improve.

Very true. Not specific to this forum, people will also ask questions that can be answered with a simple Google search

On a side note, I do find this forum very helpful as a soon to be Lexus owner. A lot of the questions I have are more so relying on existing owner experiences and can't be found on manuals.

I agree many things could be answered with reading the manual, but unfortunately it’s not going to stop anytime soon. As this model gets more owners, there are also going to be a lot of questions that get posted here that will have been asked here on this forum over and over again. We try to help with that by developing FAQ stickies and merging threads for those common questions a new member posts that they didn’t first search for. Welcome to the internet, folks. It’s been that way for 20 years here on our forum (and every other automotive community) and isn’t going to change anytime soon.

I did a quick review of threads in this specific forum on the first page and I’d dispute ‘most’ of the topics are covered in the manual. Maybe 1/4 of them are, but the rest are purely experiential questions for other owners or potential buyers.

if you see something that’s easily answered because you’ve read the manual (and are lucky enough to remember every single detail), consider pitching in and helping the other person out who didn’t or who doesn’t recall things as well, or simply is technology challenged. Politely suggest they might look at page x in their manual to get more details. Link them to threads where their question has already been asked and answered, and tell them how you searched for it. Nominate posts you see repeated for addition to the FAQ.

Our hope is our members will help each other out. However if it truly bothers you when you see a thread title that you know is easily answered by the manual, I suggest just don’t read it. It’ll cut down your frustration.

I totally agree. The dumbening/laziness of society. It seems to be the same 2-3 people (you know who you are) posting multiple inane questions per day. Questions that are easily searched or in the owners guide, or better yet dealer or Corp answered. If Corp gets the same Q asked over and over, they’ll soon realize a shortcoming in their documentation or the user interface.

This reminds me. Do I really need to use 91 octane gas in our new NX 350 AWD? :-)

Yes, the 2.4L Turbo NX 350 definitely needs Premium Fuel.
Early literature listed the 2.5L Hybrid NX 350h as rated to use Regular Fuel as is
that powertrain in ES 300h, former NX 300h, Camry/Avalon/Highlander/RAV4 but
the revised publication calls for Premium as is the 3.5L Hybrid RX 450h (and RIP GS 450h)

I think the @Randyp1234 only asked the question as a joke following the previous comments in this thread…… well at least I hope he did!😝
