Question F Sport Wheel Polish

Hey guys, kinda a dumb question. But has anyone tried to polish the black F sport wheels? I was washing them today and noticed there's a lot of swirls. So wondering if anyone has tried polishing or if someone has a paint depth gauge to measure how much paint is on there.

Thank you!

I wouldn't worry about clear coat depth on wheels if you are using a light polish to remove swirls. I would take the extra steps of using an iron remover and of course a good claybar procedure to remove the brake dust contaminants.

Try your preferred polish that you use on the body paint. If that doesn't work, then go to a light compound or use a slightly more agressive pad. I would consider a coating if you notice swirls quickly returning but the best way is prevention with good wash techniques.

Admittedly, it's difficult with wheels due to the abundance of swirl inducing brake dust. I would give them a good soak in an ONR solution before hitting them with a highly lubricated foam. After that, give them a light scrub with a soft wheel brush.

I saw your post today and thought it kind of interesting.

Went out and checked my wheels, F sport black, like yours. They are perfect, no marks swirls or any kind of manufacturing flaws.

Are you sure they are swirls? If so, any interaction with an automated car wash?

I would be going back to the dealer if you think it could be a manufacturing or delivery issue.

Hope it's just some weird road grime!

Sounds like your dealer used something harsh to clean out.
