Default Adaptive cruise control, changing lanes question

You’re driving along in town and behind a car with adaptive cruise control on, and there’s a car in the other lane it’s a four-lane two lanes in each direction and you change lanes, does the adaptive cruise stop following the car you’re behind when you change lanes and does it then pick up the new car in the other lane, because a few times when I’ve done that it seems like the car speeds up when I change lanes even though there’s a car in front of me in the other lane.

The answer appears to be yes as long as it doesn’t turn the system off first.

also would love to know what the beeps are for when I am not crossing over onto either line on my left or right and not having beep turned on for exceeding speed limit, I get several beeps as I’m starting out it seems.
