Default Key Card Question......

I've read that some of you have the little credit card sized key cards that you're supposed to be able to put in your wallet, or whatever. Do those only come with certain models or the luxury package? We didn't get one with our 350 non-hybrid.

It's part of the Smartphone Convenience package which includes wireless device charger, Smart Access Card Key, digital key functionality.

Mahalo - is that package the only way to have digital keys, too?

I would assume so. At the Lexus dealership here it was already included with cars that had the Luxury package so it wasn't presented as an add on.

I have read somewhere that key cards can be added afterwards. Does anyone have any other insight on that ?

yes they can be purchased and added to your car but they were quite expensive. I would estimate probably around $300 for one. You may be able to get cheaper ones on eBay. I do think you need the dealer to program it to your car though. Not sure it’s really worth it as I’ve been going through on the average one battery a month which starts to add up.

That's bizarre. I only use the key card and have yet to replace the battery.

Does the key card also continuously send a signal like the key fobs? Wondering if the key cards need to be placed in a Faraday box with the fobs.

my fobs don’t have a problem so I think there may be a problem with the key card itself. once this battery is dead I will take ithe car into the stealership.

So... has anyone actually had the dealer add the key card to an NX that did not come with it? I'm not really too hung up on cost, but i'm more interested if there were bugs, challenges or pitfalls of doing so?

I received one with my 350 F Sport, in Australia.
