Default Puddle Lights & Illuminated Sill Add On / Pics

Anyone have any pictures of the illuminated door / cargo sill(s) OR side / rear puddle light(s) installed on an NX 350(h)? Trying to decide if any of these options are worth the cost?

Was curious if the illuminated door sills turned off when the door was shut? Also, how bright is the rear puddle light add on compared to the stock option? Lastly, how easy are these options to install if I were to purchase myself? Thanks!

No pictures, but I know that the puddle lights are dead simple to install yourself. There is a small 2-wire harness which simply plugs into the illuminator, and it works. There are kits available on eBay and Amazon - however the NX and RX (which use almost the same part) have a different connector. I'd say it's not very worth it - but can be had for less than $100 if you look hard enough. The install is just removing the old plug - which is a placeholder for the light, and installing the new one with the 2-prong harness (+ and -)

IMO - the door/cargo sills are a gimmick. Not sure of the install process.

Anyone else familiar with the ease of self install for the illuminated cargo / door sills? Appreciate the info!

Just did the front sills yesterday - it's really easy. Lift the outside edge (towards the outside of the vehicle and closest to the rubber seal) gently at each end where you see the seams and rotate it back into the vehicle, the back side has little edges that catch and will release as you rotate it back. The plug is tucked under the front little plastic piece so you'll need to carefully loosen it to get to the plug to make room to unclip the dummy cap inserted into the plug (this is probably the most difficult part of the whole process). Reverse the above (tuck the back edge (inside the car first) and then rotate towards you (rotate towards the outside of the vehicle/rubber seal) and gently press to snap in place. Make sure the rubber seal is pulled out from under the plastic and is placed correctly and that's it!

If you're worried at all, or 100% new to doing something like this, just check YouTube for a video from a different Lexus model and while it won't be EXACTLY the same it'll be similar enough that you should be able to figure it out.

Good luck!

I understand refrigerator lights also shut off when you close the door

If there's no photo, it didn't happen.

Fair point lol. My original intent was to see if there was any light bleed inside the cabin after closing the door, but I guess it’s kind of a mute point 😂

i’ll be honest with you… My 350 F sport came with the illuminated sales from the factory and I think they’re the biggest waste of $500 that I can imagine. They look ok but just seem useless.

Yeah, I actually decided against them as they just seemed steep in cost for the functionality they don’t seem to provide!

Looks like dealer swapped oem ones to these So I ordered some on Amazon and swapped them to just the Lexus Logo and lettering

I would not have paid for these. If the Stealership wants their name on my vehicle they need to pay me.

understood. Was not sure if the dealer charged you for an add-on or not. Lately they’re notorious for adding on items and driving the price up for their profit.

even if they didn’t charge you I would’ve had them remove them.

What the heck? Why would I want a dealers name on my car? Those puddle lamps are brazen. That is crazy. I bet they cost more than the regular logo ones lol
