The Primacy had a bit more of a traditional tread vs. the CC2, I'm guessing that accounted for the difference. Not sure how the CC2 would compare to the 20" run flats we have in these NXs....particularly as they start to wear. I also don't know how well the CC2 would have held up, only had them for about 10K miles before we traded the RAV in on the NX.

I felt the grip really improved with the CC2, I'd recommend the tire a lot, particularly with varied weather situations. We don't really get snow here, but dry and wet performance was much better than the relatively mediocre Primacy. I seem to remember they even handle a little snow decently based on the TireRack reviews. I did tend to push the RAV more than it was intended.

I love my run flat tires. No issues here. It corners well and the ride quality not bad. I wonder if they will last through my 36 months lease of 12k miles a year.

Do run flat tires last longer than 3 year or 36,000 miles typically ?

As with all tires it depends on how much fun you’re having — aggressive acceleration, cornering, and braking. If you’re light on the car it should get close. I don’t think it will do too much better since the 450h+ is very heavy and rides on 20” low profile tires. I had a BMW 3 series with 18” RFT and they used to last 24-36k miles (OEM Pirelli was close to 24k while Bridgestone Driveguard was close to 36k). I had the car for about 90k miles and I used to have fun with it. I was on my 4th set when I traded it.

I don't think they will last the 3 years or 36k. The electric motors push a lot more instant torque causing the tires to wear much faster than traditional vehicles. I drive a lot less than 12k miles per year. I'm currently at 16k miles after 2 years and 4 months of owning my NX. Last check was about 5.5mm/6mm tread left on my RFT.

I would put RF's on each of my vehicles and prefer them over non RF's ...rather take my chances with them than without. However there is no substitute for a spare. it should be standard equipment.

I see this comment every time there is a RFT thread. I have no problem with my RFT tires. Also, I am more comfortable when my wife is out alone and will be able to drive to the nearest tire center. AAA is not reliable in my area. They never showed up last time I needed help.

My biggest question to all out there why would Lexus use RFT as standard equipment if they where loud with a rough ride and wear out sooner than standard tires??????Makes no sense to me. I'm happy with my RFT tires and have no reason to spend more money on tires I don't need.

Another question you might ask is: If RFT were so awesome and didn’t have any compromises, why would Lexus not use them on the RX?

Typical, answer my question with a question. Lexus owes us an explanation.

Maybe more room for a spare in the RX. Still there is nothing wrong with the RFT tires just a cult like hate.

I'm not gonna argue RFT is better or worse.

All I know is that my daughter, who is over-sensitive in terms of ride quality (that was why she went with a Luxury instead of an FSport), told me that changing to a set of Cross Climate 2 from the stock RFTs was like 'night and day'. She changed the tires when her 2025 NX450h+ was at 1500 miles.

However, according to her, road noise improved 'just a bit'.

Did she sell the RFT or leave them at the tire store? I've heard they are between $250-300 per tire.

She just left them at the store (Costco). She was too busy with other things (in the middle of moving from one coast to the other) to sell the tires.

Sounds to me like you just argued they are worse.

Well, I don't know about 450h+, but on my 350h F Sport I have 235/50R20 original Bridgestone RFTs, and I have not changed them yet for 27 months and 73,000km. At the last service (60,000km) I've been told that all tyres are "getting close", but still passed the safety checks. Quite impressive... :-)
