Default Let engine idle?

Hey guys, I have a 2022 NX350 with the turbo engine and I drive on the highway everyday going 100-110 km/h. I know you're suppose to let the engine idle for couple minutes before turning off to cool down the turbo, my question is after I get off the highway I have about 5 mins of city driving before I get to my destination. Should I still wait 2-3 mins after arriving or is it safe to turn off right away?

TIA

Lightbulb 30 seconds is all that is needed.

It is a good idea to idle for 30 seconds. I don't think you need 2-3 minutes. It was recommended on my first 1983 turbo and I still do it on my 2018 twin-scroll 2.3L 350Hp turbo.

YMMV,

Is your turbo running full right up until you stop in your driveway? If not, and it's not running with any vigor for the last couple of miles and down your street and up your driveway, then it won't hurt anything to turn it off right away. Anyway, what if you're on the highway and you pull in to a gas station, or stop at a restaurant, or just stop at a rest stop--you may want to let it idle for a minute or so. In your case, the turbo would have an inside temp of as much as 1500 degrees, but not if you were cruising casually in local traffic. It would have cooled considerably by then.

I do that in my Supra MKIV as well, I let it idle and cool down a little before shutdown around 45 seonds but it's really all relative to how I drove her.

I agree. good safety measure to extend any turbo engine life including the Lexus 350NX turbo.

Take Care, sit in your car 30 to 45 seconds when you reach you destination , enjoy ZEN, relax and have long life <turbo engine>

YMMV,

Even in our 1st gen 2015 200t, the cooler for the turbo kept running for around 30 seconds after immediately turning the car off. I had thought about warning my wife to do this but realized that Lexus already accounted for it.
