Default Cannot control volume when playing Youtube via AndroidAuto

Hi guys

When I use AndroidAuto and play youtube then try to control volume I get a message that says "Paused, Volume will not be adjusted"
This happens regardless if I try to rotate the **** or if I click on the steering wheel buttons
The volume will always be constant regardless if it's minimum or maximum in my phone

However, if I play Spotify or YoutubeMusic app they work just fine

I tried that with more than one android phone and the result is the same

I tried AppleCarPlay with a friend's phone, YouTube worked just fine

Anybody is facing a similar issue?

(If I play youtube via Bluetooth without androidauto, the volume control works)

I have the exact same problem. It basically does this with any app that's not on the Andriod Auto screen (it seems). With Pandora and Audible, it works great, but then they're on the Andriod Auto screen. Any help would be appreciated too!!

From the looks at it.. it's an Android Auto issue and not a Lexus Infotainment issue.

Yeah, it's the same thing on both of my cars, a 450H+ and a 2022 Corolla Hybrid.

I do not have an android but an IPhone. I purchased two UX prior to my NX and all of them had volume adjustment issues with YouTube and Tik Tok until recently. I could make adjustments with Spotify, Pandora, etc. but was stuck on the same volume level prior to opening YouTube/Tik Tok. I would have to close the app, make volume adjustments, then try again.

I just did a software update on my NX this week and it seemed to have resolved the volume adjustment issue for me. I’m not sure if this is the exact same issue you’re experiencing but this made a huge difference for me. I would suggest checking to see if you need a software update in the vehicle and not through the app.

Thanks lsft & Lrlaz, so it's all of us I guess and yes it appears to be an AndroidAuto thing that happens if the app is not supported by androidauto
Thanks for confirming the issue guys

Thanks Kimberly88 for your input, I actually just tried your trick (leaving the app, changing the volume, re opening the app) it actually worked
It's good enough as a work around until they find a solution, so I guess yes it is the same issue

Try to use voice command saying "volume up"
then use the volume button to adjust.

YouTube is not a native app for the Android Auto. It's only allow the sound to pass through the system. If you want to turn up the volume, you need to minimize the YouTube app first, change the volume up, then reopen the YouTube app to continue "listening" to the video.

I don't use hack app "AAsomething", maybe volume control function may work using that app to play YouTube.

For those still dealing with this issue, give Hush a go https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ch.zeroed.hush Full disclosure, I'm the author of Hush which I wrote after dealing with this issue for years.

Hush will play a silent audio track which prevents other apps from hijacking Android Auto whilst you listen to YouTube videos
