Talking eaxy solution

Just park next to Rolls Royces and Bentleys and you won't have a theft problem anymore

I park in a garage ; one house is a gated community and the other house has a gate on the driveway so I never lock my car

YMMV,

Did anyone purchase OBD port lock in Canada for their NX? Would like to know which ones work. Thanks

Don't know, but saw the post also. Interesting if an option, not sure I would be willing to turn if off however for what I think is a slight reduction in risk. My view, the biggest risk is the key fob alwayst transmitting to the car- not the other way around. I think it is very similar to public/private key encryption design- the car is the public key and the fob is the private key. I have heard that Lexus does roiling keys vs static. Probably like most newer garage door remote opener vs older static keys/codes design that can be captured/stored. That would raise the difficulty bar in a relay attack, but probably not eliminate it.

Of course, how well Lexus/Toyota implements all this is the "key." 😎

Just came across this article saying 2016-2021 Lexus RX is the number 1 of the top 10 cars stolen in Ontario in 2021 but interestingly NX is not on the list.

The "smart" tags sold by Samsung (or Apple) reportedly work by constantly pinging other Samsung (or Apple) devices in their vicinity to report their whereabouts (I imagine that by agreeing to one of the multitude of Terms & Conditions that we hurriedly scroll through when setting up a phone or tablet, we are allowing our devices to be used in this way). The random device picking up the ping then relays the tag's location to the Samsung (or Apple) central servers and therefore the owner of the tag can track it on their phone. This idea seems fine in theory as there are potentially hundreds, if not thousands, of devices (i.e. phones; tablets; etc.) in the vicinity of a tag (in a shopping mall for example) that can receive and relay the ping. This probably works well if, for example, you've lost your keys which have a smart tag attached but I just wondered if this works in reality for something that is "on the move" like a car.

These tags are relatively inexpensive so I'll probably get one, hide it in the car somewhere and find out one way or the other.

I find that the Lexus app can be very hit and miss in reporting the last known vehicle location - at least with regards to the UK version of the app. I wouldn't want to rely on it if I needed to locate the car.

I installed this ODB lock on my Lexus NX: https://www.genosgarage.com/product/...ories-interior
The price was 50 USD plus I bought an extra key (just in case).
It fits, it most likely at least will slow down potential thieves.
I strongly suggest that if you buy from this place, use PayPal and not a credit card!

I also covered VIN number on my car. For the times when I have to keep my car overnight outside, I also have a Club steering wheel lock.
