Default Brand loyalty going down

Even for Lexus!

Was very surprised to see Acura doing better than Lexus in brand loyalty.

It doesn't quite show "Acura doing better than Lexus in brand loyalty."
It shows the CHANGE in brand loyalty over the last year or so.
I don't have time or the data for deep research, but if Lexus led Acura in brand loyalty by, say, 20 percent last year, it still leads Acura by roughly 18 percent this year.
(If you go to the source material, you'll see that Lexus still outperforms Acura by a large margin in problems reported during the first 90 days of ownership - and, along with Genesis, has fewer such problems than any other luxury brand.)

As well this is old data. As more NXs (for example) enter the market we'll see what the impact is from more complex (and intrusive) electronics.
This is a better article

My loyalty is being tested due to the lack of inventory. The longer the wait, the more appealing competitor products look.

Do competitors have inventory? I was at the Acura dealer getting my car serviced and they have even less inventory than the Lexus dealer. Lexus dealer has quite a few gas cars.

Have not begun actively looking, but last week I was at a Mercedes dealer (fiancee getting service on her car) and they had quite a few. I'm just getting increasingly frustrated with the wait since mid-April.

even for hybrid or just gas? Finding a gas NX is not hard.

I suppose I can just keep waiting and not whine about it. 😉

Not surprised to see Genesis seeing brand loyalty increase. They have been aggressive on the styling and coming up with new models. Personally, i would always pick a Lexus over a Genesis. or a Toyota over a KIA/Hyundai.

Also keep in mind these numbers are based on change and don't account for the relative weights...ie the actual numbers of vehicles sold. For example in the sample how many Genesis vehicles are there vs Lexus vehicles?
According to this
https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2022-u...ures-by-brand/
its 31K vs 155K 2022 YTD in the US.
Last year the difference was greater. I would speculate the change is due to supply chain problems which made the Genesis more available.
Stats can often be made to suit a purpose....buyer beware...
