The credit card key uses CR2412 battery. I'd like to get a spare one. However, I can't find them in Walmart. Does anyone from Canada know where to get them in stores? The ones that I found on amazon.ca are sold by third-party and they don't look legitimate.

 

Strange... what does Canada have against CR2412 batteries? They are easy to find here in the States (Walmart, Amazon, Ace Hardware, etc)

 

Try Best Buy or Staples. I am surprised you can't find them in Walmart though. I think I've seen them in Walmart here in Vancouver before...

 

CR2032 is common here but I haven't seen any CR2412.

 

Are you close to the dealer? Go to the pairs department and ask. They should have the battery - check the price.

 

Why not simply try the battery from Amazon? If it is not legitimate, Amazon will allow you to send it back at no cost to you. If you choose not to send it back, your financial loss is relatively insignificant. Just a thought…

 

I ordered these, they did come in a plastic bag, but the one in the remote now has been working fine for a month or so.

They’re no where to be found except Amazon! It’s a watch battery, so you may find them at a watch store?

 

It would be interesting if someone who has recently bought a car with a card key could post what battery manufacturer is used in theirs, I've got one recently from lexuspartsdirect and they don't ship with a battery supplied.

 

Panasonic was the OEM and my replacements from Amazon as well.

I ran into this problem on a trip - low battery symptons.Couldnt find the correct battery (in the interior of BC). Held the card close to the power button and it worked! Sheer guesswork and panic problem solving (try anything). Got home and the dealer replaced the battery for free. Worth asking the dealer.

 

I found them at battery world in my city, seems like they have stores in Canada and the USA. Twice the price as bezoland but they are packaged in the US and just look better than the ones straight from Indonesia although they could be the same. Took 3 minutes to start the MacBook and program the key.

 

Finally, managed to find one in Tokyo, LOL. 474 yen at BIC Camera.
