Default NX350 vs 350h

What made you go for an NX 350 over a 350h or vice versa? I'm having a hard time choosing on paper, especially when they are almost the same price. I don't care so much about which has "more punch" or is faster. I'm more interested in long-term practicality (e.g. having to replace the battery in the H vs worse fuel economy on the other one, etc.)

I didn't pick the 350 or 350h, but if you need to choose between the two, I'll pick the 350h. The performance is the 350h is adequate and the warranty of the hybrid system is 8 years. I don't see why replacing battery is a roadblock for the 350h. My family have owned an RX450h which ran for 12 years before we traded it in and the battery was still good. My current CT is 8 years old and things are still great. The bigger problem is when do you need to car. The 350 is much easier to find and get over the 350h.

I haven’t thought too much about longevity but I want the 350h for its mpg. No way I would consider the 350. I’m still waiting, since August, for one to become available at one of 4 dealers in white or silver with palomino/luxury.

If I wanted performance, I'd find a way to pony up for the 450h+.

I have a 350 F Sport NX, delivered late January ‘22.

The decision was easy for me after having owned Lexus cars prior to this one. I just prefer the Turbo ICE motor to a Hybrid. As loan cars from Lexus, I have driven a number of different Hybrids and none really impressed me all that much, albeit they are more economical.

The 350 is a totally effortless drive handing the the long hilly roads around Sydney with ease.

The way I see it is, petrol is almost the cheapest item you put in you car, so there is no real big deal about its price for me. Mind you, I only fill up on average once every three weeks.

My only disappointment with the 350 is the relatively small fuel tank at 55 litres, should be a minimum of 60 litres. I think the fuel tank is the same size for all 2nd gen NX vehicles.

I'm going through the same dilemma and I'm leaning towards the 350. I feel like it will only be a matter of time till we see the high voltage cable corrosion issue pop up on the hybrids up here in NYC. Toyota's response to the RAV4 issues is not encouraging.

If money is no object I will choose the 350 over the 350h for "more punch". Coming from a v6 Acura RDX I find the 350h leaking in performance. However, I would choose the 350h over 350 because of gas prices now a day. Ultimately, I got a 450h+ instead.

Regardless the difference in price would only get the 350h. Some members here are saying getting 43 mpg. Brake pads will last well past 150,000 miles saving two brake jobs. Fourth hybrid and not worried about the battery. Never replaced a 12v battery either. On 2020 or newer models the battery warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles. IMO four cylinder turbos are louder and do not like the feel of the acceleration. The difference of an average of 25 mpg versus 39 mpg is huge. Driving 12,000 miles a year for five years at gasoline at $3.00 a gallon that is a savings of $2,595. Gasoline will average higher than $3.00 a gallon over the next five years. At a crusing speed of 70 mph the 350 hybrid has a decibel level of 64.3 versus 70 for the gasoline version 350.

Well said. The 0-60 time for the 350 is 6.6 and the 350h 7.2 seconds. To me not much difference and 0-60 speed is meaningless.

Like others who have replied, I bought the 350 for the extra oomph. I tend to keep my vehicles for 10-15 years (my prior Lexus was on front line duty for 18 years), so even with a good battery warranty I'm still likely to have to deal with hybrid longevity issues.

That's the color combo we are getting as well White pearl/ palomino with luxury package. Can't wait!!

While the 0-60 times that you quote are accurate, even that comparison is deceptive.

In order to produce its power, not only does the ICE in the NX350 need some time to spin up, but there is also some degree of turbo lag before the power is fully provided. Since the NX350h gets instant power from the electric motors, that means that, while the NX350 may get from 0-60 about a half second quicker than the NX350h, the NX350h will have more "instant punch" when power is called for.

Those who just compare horsepower specifications or 0-60 times are likely to think that the NX350 has more "power", but the reality is that, while the NX350 has more power on paper, NX350h provides its power more quickly than does the NX350, which makes it feel, in most situations, like it has more power.

I'm very happy with my NXh performance (I've owned turbos, inc. an MR2 turbo). I'll gladly take the extra 15 mpg and not paying an extra $0.60 per gallon for premium to gain a few 1/10ths of a second in acceleration.

Thanks for the explanation. I did not personally test drive a 350, only a 350h. When I mentioned to the sale guy I felt the 350h lack "punch" he suggested to try a 350 turbo but I did not because I have no intention to buy a 350 with its poor fuel economy.

Exclamation Every 40,000 miles

I owned an IS Turbo. It met it's fuel economy numbers only when driven conservatively. Required premium fuel. Spark plugs change at 40,000 mile intervals
Just seemed like high-cost, high-maintenance for little in return.
Am very happy with the NX 350h
