NX 2022 keeps asking for my PIN
#76
How long did this last? When I get the popup I either cancel it or enter my pin and then I can access Carplay again, almost instantaneously. I can always push and hold the radio button for a few seconds which resets the infotainment system and allows me to use Carplay. Still annoying but at least I can continue to use carplay maps and other apps with just short interuption.
How long? It lasted my whole trip yesterday. Since I haven't had any issue for so long I forgot my pin #. When I tried to reset it, I got a screen with a keyboard. Was I supposed to call someone at what #?? I'm thinking you cannot reset the pin while you are driving. Since I had company i wasn't about to pull over and try to figure the Lexus nightmare out.
I watched a couple you tube videos about the interface. One of them showed changing your pin thru the Lexus app. So I did that. I haven't had time to see if worked in the car.
This is ridiculous, Lexus is supposed to be a premium brand with quality control. They must have not done a prelaunch quality check of the lame software they installed. This issue has been going on for more than a year but I don't hear anything from Toyota/Lexus about fixing this problem for their customers. Where is an update Lexus!!!!! My 2022 Lexus is 8 months old but Lexus can launch a 2024 NX model. So my new car is 2 model years old already. I wonder if these new '24 models have the same issue with the interface? What was the rush to get a '24 model out anyway???

I continue to have this problem. Since it seems to occur in the same geographical areas that I travel I am wondering if it could be related to my Iphone's ability to pickup the cell signal. I have an IPhone XR and have read that the newer models, 12 and above have better reception. So I am wondering if I should upgrade my phone. Do those of you having this problem have an older Iphone or more importantly if you don't have this issue, do you have a newer Iphone?

Ugh
I'm now getting the PIN popup repeatedly. 2022 model. I got it once last year, but only started getting the PIN request again a few days ago. I tried resetting in the car, but the system said it was unable to send the link. I just now reset the PIN using the Lexus app. Will see if it works shortly. For those who are wondering, I am still able to use Carplay while having the PIN issue.
Update: After using the Lexus app to reset the PIN, I entered the new PIN in the car and it seems to be OK . . . for now.
Update #2: No more PIN popups.

Hi there I will give you some things to check to get your PIN to stop popping so much. First and foremost, just go and reset the you 6 digit PIN in the app. Top right tap profile icon>account>security setting> account PIN, reset account PIN.
Then log out of the app, and sign back in with your mobile phone number. I think you have not opted in for phone authorization. After you sign in it should either give you an authorization code, but you will probably need to type in yes first to allow these.
Next, check for a software update by going into settings> software update. If you don't see one, tap on "model info" and see if you are running 1040 in your 2022NX.
If you are at 1040, you will be fine for now.
When you get in your vehicle and see the PIN pop, put in the one you reset and you should be good for now.
Canceling the pop up will only make it come back later. Trying to reset it in the vehicle is a debacle to be avoided at all costs till you get an OTA soon.
(only resetting the PIN in the app for now will resolve the token issues expiring, causing one of the reasons for the PIN pop up)
An OTA (over the air update) is schedule later this quarter for all 2022 NX. I have not heard of a set time for this, but it will happen to get the 2022 NX's to an even newer software version.

yours is up to date if it is a 2023 model. All vehicles require a PIN for security and software update purposes, so try to remember it, or reset it in the app if you forget!

Maybe the question should be - how often should we expect the PIN to pop up on the latest version? Quarterly? Bimonthly? Monthly?

I entered my PIN on March 17th when I picked up the car, while the delivery specialist was doing all the initial setup with me. I have never been asked to enter my PIN since that day.

Not driving the vehicle for an extended period will ask you for a PIN.

I seem to get these pop ups in areas where there is a weak cell signal. It happens in the same geographical areas. That is why I thought it might be an issue with the cell phone itself.

Yes and no. The DCM (data control module) that is in your vehicle is in essence a mobile device that relies in cell tower coverage. That will trigger the PIN when you loose connection and then regain it. So there is the yes part. But your actual phone is not doing anything to cause it.
