Default 2023 NX350 Towing Options?

What exactly is the $160 "2,000 lbs. Towing Capability" -option that may require additional accessories. And what exactly is the $390 "Activity Mount" option that looks like a standard trailer hitch receiver?

The $160 "2,000 lbs. Towing Capability" adds a larger transmission cooler. You'll still need to purchase a hitch and wiring separately, there is no factory option to have them preinstalled.
The Activity Mount is a 1.25" receiver; not suitable for towing. However, there is an OEM 2" tow hitch receiver available but it's more $$$.

great answer, thanks. We would never tow anything but we will need wiring and a receiver for a hitch mounted bike rack. A 1.25 receiver will do fine.

The hitch is dealer installed.

I spent a couple of hours in a Lexus dealership today and the salesman said if I install a hitch it will interfere with the power rear door kick sensor! Does that sound right?

Yes, that’s correct. Lexus has a relocation kit to keep sensor use, or it can be disabled. Some report it works in the original location anyways, and some report that aftermarket hitches leave the sensors alone also.

not if your car has the towing package feature from factory.

When I bought my NX early last year, the Monroney sticker did not include the disclaimer about requiring additional accessories for the 2000 lbs towing capacity option. I am tempted to ask Lexus for some compensation due to the error/exclusion.
