Go to settings sound and media levels, you can have auto sound levelizer on or off and in both positions the following are greyed out, ringtone, new message, received volume.

Anybody else this or is it just me?

 

Some settings are not avail when car is in motion. Not sure if this is the issue but thought it might help.
